Good job to everyone working on correcting the big SugarWiki moves (Awesome, Heartwarming, Funny, etc.)!
If a page's main is in the ambiguity index, should we remove that wick or leave it?(ex. Thief is in the ambiguity index, but it's cleaned up aside from that). Also, the mains for Metal Gear Solid, The Killer, The Time Machine, and Work In Progress are cleaned up.
Edited by idonom Y'ALL JUST GOT SHREKTShould we put Mary Sue on here? I spotted a wick to it on Literature.Keeper Of The Lost Cities, and policy is to keep Mary Sue wicks to a minimum?
Dunno what the wicks should be changed to though...
There was a trope for Invoked Mary Sue?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576 Hide / Show RepliesNo, Mary Sue isn't really appropriate for this task as this is about namespace moves.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo, the entry on Thigh High Boots and few other disambigs, should be moved somewhere else?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576There are some listings in the Complex folder, where all options redirect to the same namespace, like where Main.Gone With The Wind says to change its wicks to either Literature.Gone With The Wind or Film.Gone With The Wind... But Literature redirects to Film.
Should we move those to Non-Complex, and say to change the wicks to the one where they all go? Or not, because a page in the not-Main-but-currently-a-redirect-namespaces, may be made in the future?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576 Hide / Show RepliesLeave them in Complex. Even though they redirect to the same thing currently, there is a potential for splitting the work page in the future. When such a split occurs, having the wicks already differentiated is extremely helpful.
Should we say to send Main Redirects to the cutlist as part of the moving instructions?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576 Hide / Show RepliesWait a second... Most of what we're doing isn't moving things... Why is that even on here? ... Can I remove it, since we already wick to How to Move a Page?
...
Where do I go to discuss cut requests that have been rejected?
Edited by Malady Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576It's on there because it's relevant to the original reason the page existed. It doesn't hurt to have it there, either.
You can ask on ATT, or check the discussion page. Sometimes the mods post a reason there.
VideoGame.Yu Gi Oh The Sacred Cards's namespace is just fine, but its YMMV page is listed as YMMV.Yugioh The Sacred Cards.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I have moved all but ten of the 146 Main. The Legend Of Zelda links. What's left is three troper pages, that I cannot edit; three archive pages (same); two pages that don't exist; and two pages that aren't listed as related for something. Can that be moved to Completed?
Hide / Show RepliesRemoved it from here and added it to CompletedMigrations.Video Games. Edit requests on locked pages can be filed here, though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAll two hundred something links for Myth.Celticythology have been changed by me and @Nombretomado
Hide / Show RepliesAnd it's been removed from here. Congrats!
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhy is the page locked? It's impossible to remove something when it's done, fix a link to the wrong page, or add anything now.
Hide / Show RepliesBecause of this one Nate Spidgewood. We're trying to see what we can do about this, since he's led to many a locking on this very wiki.
I now go by Graf von Tirol. As mentioned on top of the page, there is the Edit Requests for Locked Pages thread for asking about any new change. It takes a bit longer, but the mods in charge will do it.
Does anyone besides me think it would be more useful to split the "Not-so-complex pages" by namespace-to-be?
Hide / Show RepliesThere are lots of namespaces... it would be much work with little pay-off (since the final aim is, after all, to empty this page). Not to mention it would make it not-so-easy to locate a work quickly in the list. Not thrilled by the idea, in short.
What namespace are gamebooks (Of the "turn to section 11 if you kick him, section 15 if you ask him what's wrong or section 53 if you ignore him completely" variety)?
I figure they're either Literature or Tabletop Games.
Hide / Show RepliesI've suggested a Gamebook/ namespace, but it didn't stick. For now, they go in Literature/.
The folder got too long. I've split it into more, smaller folders; it's fine now.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I think this page would be better if we sorted the examples somewhat, and by that I mean that we should put all the complicated examples (where you have to decide whether a wick should point to the anime, manga, videogame or whatever) into one folder. Do you mind if I do that?
Get rid of the walled garden Hide / Show RepliesThat sounds like a good idea. I find it nice to know what can be done robotically when I'm tired, and what requires examining context and thinking and such.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Thanks. I'll do it after I'll have finished two more items, unless someone has a good reason to object.
Get rid of the walled gardenMaybe we could sort the quickie ones somehow too, instead of just bolding them.
That sounds complicated - so we need four groups?
Get rid of the walled gardenMore like three. I'd think the complicated ones will likely be a small enough group that breaking it down further would be getting too pedantic.
I guess — the groups could be Short/Brief/Quick, Longer/Big, and Wick Sorting Needed. Just separating into two groups would also be good.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. How do you move liveblogs?
"Learning without thinking is labor lost. Thinking without learning is dangerous." Hide / Show RepliesI'd like to know that too. The article seems to imply it's as easy to do as with reviews, but I can't find any way to do it. Does it require to notify the mods, like with discussion pages?
Edited by StFanI feel like we should just move this to main.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Should we have a different page for the "completed" works, given that there's quite a bit of these and the page is getting rather big?
I now go by Graf von Tirol. Hide / Show RepliesMight not be the worst of ideas, but bringing it up in the forum thread for migration would probably get more of a response. Not everyone bothers with discussion pages.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpSo I've realized. Thanks for bringing it up!
I now go by Graf von Tirol.Would it be okay to put a note at the top of the article, to note that, in the case of multiple redirects, the link should be to the proper namespace? I've noticed quite a few are just links to one redirect, with no notice that there are others to fix...
From time to time, we should check the "Completed" folder - and correct any new wicks the Main/ counterpart may have gotten.
Hide / Show RepliesIs it proper to move them back on the incomplete one if they are, and is it worth noting that they were completed? Doctor Who, for a start definitely looks like it needs a clearup (~500 wicks listed, a brief check and most need changing)
Don't ask me, I just fix wicks.I'm considering leaving notes on when things were moved into "Completed", so people can check how long since things got checked for clearup. I'm also thinking of marking completed Trope Overdosed pages with bold, as they're the ones likely acquire wicks quickly. Does this sound like a good idea?
Don't ask me, I just fix wicks.I keep adding works that I moved from the Main/ namespace to the "Completed" folder, even if they were never listed in the "Needs wicks moved" folder.
Should I do this, or is this unnecessary?
Edited by LordGro Let's just say and leave it at that. Hide / Show RepliesI'd say it's fine. Keep at it.
“Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?”Keep it, it means that if people can find a main/ reference that gets added later, they'll know to move it.
Don't ask me, I just fix wicks.
SelfDemonstrating.Darth Vader is in Complex, saying to move to Comic Book or Darth Wiki...
There's only 8 wicks left. And they all presumably make sense for Darth Vader.
Can I remove it now?
