Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

It's YMMV, so theoretically a character can have more than one YMMV if fans disagree on where the line was crossed, as long as it's clear they did' cross the line during the story.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessPossibly dumb question: is there some reason we can't keep both?
They're YMMV for two separate, if related, works. Is there some reason Porky can't cross the MEH in one work, then cross a different one in the next?
^ I don't think so.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI thought that a character can only cross the MEH once ever in the entire series.

- It's YMMV, so fans disagree on where the line was crossed. If the character did obviously cross the line, they can't uncross it, but fans may disagree on where the MEH took place.
- Fans may also disagree on if the line was crossed in one work or another.
Yeah, I'm perfectly fine with a character having separate MEH for separate works. Especially considering it's a pretty distant sequel, both in and out of universe.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Alright, how is this write up for Mother 3?
- Moral Event Horizon: If fans didn’t think he crossed it back in Earthbound, then they think Porky Minch crossed it with the very first action he partakes in this game by being responsible for the creation of the chimeras, and by that extent, Hinawa's death. Still others think he crossed by turning Claus into the Masked Man.
^ A little more explanation about why these actions were MEH-crossing might help, especially since the first reads as "he indirectly caused one person's death" which obviously isn't enough for a MEH.
Alright, I am going to play through the game again, so I'll probably fill out the details later. Would it be better if I just commented it out for now?
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread! As someone who named their account after this game, I'll explain why I think both are valid ( and not just because of YMMV).
Porky in Earthbound and Porky in Mother 3 are two completely differently written characters. They each have different arcs.
How does that make sense? They’re the same character.
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!Yeah, but they have different arcs. They have different goals. They cross the MEH for different reasons.
Um... shouldnt that be up to a mod to decide?
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.^ Why? This is just how MEH works.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI meant that for Earthbound Fan.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. But if they hypothetically did something to redeem themselves in 3, the MEH in EarthBound would no longer apply. So it is effectively the same character.
Adding "If fans didn’t think he crossed it back in Earthbound" to the Mother 3 examples will be sufficient fix.
This brings up the general question of how to deal with situations where if one character crosses the MEH in one work, another character crosses the MEH in a different work, and then later on The Reveal reveals that the two characters are the same person.
(It does not help that the Inconsistent Dub of Porky's name pretty much invented a reveal that did not actually exist, with only Super Smash Bros. clarifying the situation for English-speaking fans.)

The Earthbound series has a villain named Porky Minch, who was Ness‘s (the protagonist) next door neighbour. Somewhere along the line, he got influenced by Giygus and then crossed the MEH. There’s two entries for him, one on Earthbound and one on Mother 3. I’m trying to decide on which entry I should keep.
YMMV.EarthBound
YMMV.Mother 3
Obviously, the Mother 3 entry isn’t written very well and will have to be trimmed; but the main issue is which one to keep. The former happened before what he did in Mother 3, but the later just has a bigger emotional impact.
I also asked this in the Moral Event Horizon Cleanup, but I just put this here too so I can get more consensus on what to do.
