So, should we remove the markup altogether since Text-Formatting Rules and other parts of the wiki say we aren't supposed to use them? Although granted it is not really a big issue as the markup isn't being abused on the pages I have seen it on so far

I personally wouldn't remove it as it hasn't really been abused from what I can tell and was actually helpful as pages that used colored text were unlocked (like Laconic.Rainbow Speak) or had it added when it's part of a quote (like VideoGame.The Legend Of Zelda I, see here
◊ for proof). Plus it's still limited to a basic 12-color palette, so it can't be too disruptive or chaotic. Maybe that page's section could the second sentence changed to say "Only use for self-demonstration or if a quote has a colored part, remove or use italics/bold for emphasis everywhere else", or something.
Yeah, it has a time and a place where it can be useful.

Makes sense. Just waiting on mod input on changing the line in Text-Formatting Rules to allow appropriate usage.

I agree that we should situationally allow colored text, and that the Text Formatting Rules should be rewritten to reflect that.
From what I remember, if a page managed to NOT be edited since the color/strikethrough purge, the color would remain.
Also agree to allowing colored text in special cases, probably with a note on Text Formatting Rules

^^ that's not the case anymore it seems. I did a null edit on The Yellow Index and the color still showed

So I noticed just now when I was looking at the indices for color tropes (colored as a test) like The Yellow Index and realized the color markup has been brought back wiki side. I thought they weren't coming back because of rampant misuse? haven't been on the wiki consistently so maybe I somehow missed this but this is news to me.
