The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
Help Yourself in the Future for going back to change your own past, My Future Self and Me for extended interactions between past and future selves.
One downplayed form of Never the Selves Shall Meet also has the future self simply trying not to be recognized as their future self, lest it create some sort of Stable Time Loop. (The fully fledged trope has it implied or stated to be Reality-Breaking Paradox-level bad if future Bob and teenage Bob make contact.)
Thank you. I hadn't realized Never the Selves Shall Meet applies here.
Do we have this trope?
Bob has to Time Travel to when he was a teenager, and go undercover in his old high school as a teacher by guiding his younger self to not do the stupid thing that messed up his life which happened when he was 16, but his younger self has no idea that it's his future self he's talking to.
Are there tropes for these?
