Not that either. There are characters who don't take the abuse of other people lying down, and yet still get surrounded and occasionally victimized by the antics of idiotic/scummy people. It can overlap, but backbone or not, these would be the people who have very few friends because, even if their world isn't a WorldOfJerkass, they still seem to come into contact with the most stupid and horrible that humanity (or sapient life in general) has to offer. Think Toei's Yugioh anime or its first manga (before dual monsters became the franchise's idenity) in which the nasic structure of episodes that aren't part of an arc is that Yugi ends up having to deal with asshole after asshole which Yami has to dispose of. They can still have friends and they're not necessarily despised by everyone who isn't, but you can expect crappy peeple to bug them or screw them over while most, if not every rank of authority fails them.

Try looking at the index at Plot Magnet, which lists certain ways a character may attract trouble to them. If they endanger their loved ones, see Doom Magnet.

I think the trope I'm looking for would be a fusion of Bully Magnet and Crime Magnet while also having authority figures fail them constantly (whether the victim is an adult or not). Essentially, they're a magnet for people who make them miserable in general, not just bullies or criminals, but other awful/stupid people as well.

^^ Re the authorities failing a protagionist, see Bigot with a Badge and related tropes mentioned there. In the United States, police are far more likely to fail to do right by a person of color or other marginalized community than to those of the majority.

It's not Bigot with a Badge. I'm specifically looking for a trope where the majority of a character's problems are caused by the people around them even if they have every "majority" status there is. If forces of nature are a big contributor to their bad luck, it's also not the trope I'm looking for.

@Ner0014re N I'm specifically looking for the trope where people are the ones who are causing most of the problems that the character faces. Both of those tropes encompass suffering and bad luck, but non-sapient forces of nature can also be the cause of the misfortunes that befall characters who are victims of those 2 tropes, so they're not what I'm looking for. Those tropes can overlap with the one I'm looking for if a majority of the characters' suffering comes from other people, it they in and of themselves aren't the trope.
