Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
As long as you don’t add YMMV, you should be good.
You don't need permission (from Scruffy or otherwise) to edit articles, no.
Reading Welcome to TvTropes might have some useful information before you start editing.
I will add only that you should avoid the most common pitfalls I see of new page makers: Grammar, Context, and Crosswicking
- Grammar is self explanatory.
- Context means avoiding Zero-Context Examples. In other words, the entries you add should have enough context to them that anyone unfamiliar with the work knows what you're talking about.
- Crosswicking is making sure that if you add an entry for The Ace on Stupid Short Eevee Comic, you should also add an entry for Stupid Short Eevee Comic on The Ace.
I wasn't the one who originally made the Stupid Short Eevee Comic Webcomic page, plus, I'm still fairly new to Tv Tropes. At least give me some time to adjust.
If you're still finding your feet with editing, I'd suggest some practice on your own troper page or a sandbox (E.g. Wiki Sandbox) - the nature of the wiki means that trope pages and work pages have a lot of people looking at them, and problems with edits and formatting (or policy issues) will probably get feedback (notifier messages) from people who don't know you're new.
Edited by Mrph1Yeah, I'm currently using the Sandbox for Stupid Short Eevee Comic to make the Characters page. Once it's finished, I can move it. I don't know how exactly how long it'll take since I'm just starting out.
One suggestion I have would be to look at the source for well-made pages and see how they're made.
You should learn to use WikiWord instead of always putting {{curly braces}} around every link; some tropes have custom punctuation that only works if you do it that way.
Also, each example should be on a bullet point, which you make by putting an asterisk at the start of the line.
(One last minor issue: the Berserk Button examples on the page seem to fall into the common misuse of "character is angry when a loved one is in danger." A Berserk Button should be something small that causes a disproportionately intense angry reaction.)
Ah, I see.
Also, I know the pages I'm making are less professional (the sandbox is a good example of this,) I'm just starting out, so I'm trying my best. Plus, it's more difficult making these on a phone.
Point of order:
This statement only applies to a given work's creator(s). As long as you are not Scruffyeevee or otherwise a creator of Stupid Short Eevee Comic, you're fine to add any YMMV you think is appropriate.
Edited by wingedcatgirl Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Bump, because they broken five rules at once in Characters.Stupid Short Eevee Comic. Unindex, spoiler tag in descriptions, no indentations, ZCE, and use This Troper at the top of the sheet.
Edited by KuruniYou can remove the characters page if you want, I made a sandbox for it anyways. I'm still fairly new to Tv Tropes, I don't know why you expect me to be proffessional right off the bat.
Plus, I had already discussed with another user and realized I made a mistake thinking I could make a Characters page immediately, and we had agreed to remove the Characters page.

Hi! I'm Cheese Nick! I'm new here. I recently got approved to edit, I recently found that my favorite webcomic "Stupid Short Eevee Comic" had a Tv Tropes page! I showed it to Scruffyeevee through Comic Fury, I asked her if I could add more pages/tropes, she gave me her permission to do so. Am I allowed to work on it, or do I need permission since the page isn't mine? I'm new here.
