I was so distracted by the high concept I didn't even realize we're at the point where we use K-Pop as Western trailer music now.

Chris Stuckmann, best known for his YouTube movie critic status, is set to write a horror-mystery known Shelby Oaks, with production company Paper Street Pictures (The Pale Door).

The proiect will chart the story of a fictional mid-2000’s U.S. paranormal investigative team called The Paranormal Paranoids. Multiple found footage videos have surfaced online in recent months which have prompted horror and ARG (Alternate Reality Game) fans to speculate about the veracity of the case and the whereabouts of the investigators. One video uploaded last week appeared to show the abduction of one of the group, known as Riley.

“I had been looking for the right project to partner with Chris on for a while,” explained Paper Street CEO Aaron B Koontz, “and when I fell down the rabbit hole of this scary little story, quickly emerging right in Chris’ backyard of Ohio, with an intriguing and quickly growing You Tube element baked in, I knew we had to act fast on the perfect vehicle to launch Chris as a feature filmmaker. The videos and mystery are scary enough, but the ideas we have for where this can go, are truly frightening.”

Stuckmann added: “It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to finally get a film off the ground and when Aaron and I began discussing the potential of this story we immediately jumped at it. There is a reason so many of my fellow YouTubers are talking about this. Shelby Oaks is going to be something fresh yet deeply unnerving.”

Universal's pay TV deal with HBO is over effective December 31. Beginning next year, Universal movies will appear on Peacock after four months from their theatrical release, for a 10 month window.

Upon the end of the first four month window, some streamers and cable networks will receive pay 2 rights for the movies in an non-exclusive deal.

Amblin has extended its pay TV window deal with Showtime through 2024.

Note that this for the Universal-released movies, not the stuff Amblin is making for Netflix. Showtime has held pay-TV rights to Amblin movies (when it was DreamWorks 2.0) since 2010.

[up][up][up] I'm so happy for Stuckmann! He's been talking about his filmmaking for quite a while on his You Tube channel and it's very pleasing for him to accomplish his goals.

[up][up] This was to be expected. This new pay-TV deal with Peacock is part of the reason why NBC Universal created the streaming service in the first place.

[up]Still, that NBCU is nonexclusively licensing the rights to the Universal-Peacock films for the remainder of the 10 month window suggests they need a lot of money to aggressively expand Peacock.

Beginning to think Universal walking away from that pay 2 window deal with FX before Peacock launched was a mistake.

Prime Video is picking up Universal movies on Peacock after the exclusive four-month window lapses.

This is similar to the deal Prime had with Epix for Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate movies (that deal has since moved to Paramount+).

Netflix Q2 sub numbers are out...and they're not good.

Netflix added 1.54 million subs, above expectations but a low bar (they lost 433,000 subs in North America simultaneously).

They now project only 3.5 million new subs in Q3, far below the 5 million analysts were hoping for.

[up]People want to sell while the asking price is high, I guess? Legendary is sitting on a bunch of “we’re totally going to do something with these eventually!” IP’s and this may be their exit strategy.

Honestly, that isn’t very odd. Toxie’s voice sounds very similar to Dinklage.
