Found a new cartoonist/writer, Adrian Tomine. Anybody heard of him?

His work is probably best described as a "serious" slice-of-life stories. Highly recommended, I read Sleepwalking and Other Stories in about 2 days.

I just read The Dark Knight Strikes Again. (Found it in the local library, which surprisingly has a bunch more comics available than it used to. Very cool.)

I could not tell what the fuck was going on. Seriously, the art was a mish mash and much of the dialogue unclear as to who was speaking. Hell, the only part I really understood were the conversations between Wonder Woman and Superman.

The Dark Knight Strikes Again is the product of a psychotic imagination given too many psychedelics while suffering from delusions of grandeur and the misapprehension that it has any insight into modern culture/soceity.

Has anyone read a comic called Nil: A Land Beyond Belief? If so, opinions? I saw an ad for it and it looks right up my alley; Gothic and absurd.

Blackest Night #7 update: When the trades eventually come out I hope the include the relevant Green Lantern Crops and Green Lantern issues. Otherwise it makes no sense. Also, Sinestro hijacking the white entity- FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!

As for the final issue of Ms Marvel it was kinda meh. Nice to see Mystique as the crazy old vindictive bitch she is. And Peter and Carol speechifying and eating chili dogs together again. It appears the know about their Crack Pairing that me and four other people on the internet approve of.

Also is it just me or did Nekron and Black Hand really drop the ball after turning some of the revived heroes into Black Lanterns? Especially Superman who has done precisely nothing except stand around.

^ Yeah, kinda. Though I still thought Blackest Night #7 was awesome. Looks to be building up towards a great ending... though there'll probably be months of tie-ins afterwards. Still, no complaints about post-Blackest Night tie-ins; the Birds of Prey (one of my favourite teams) are returning, and DC have only dropped the ball with a weekly series once, so I'll bet Brightest Day is as good as 52 and Trinity were.

Picked up and read a thing called Kimmie 66 (testing link...) on impulse. Was good, and hit home. Very weird seeing "[author]'s first published work was [webcomic I've read]" on it...

Awesome, I was hoping I'd be able to write that.

Saga of the Supersons is a funny read if you don't mind cheesy seventies dialogue and general wierdness. And Superman acting like a dick to his son by faking his death. Plus, it's fun to see the sons refer to each other as "Supey" and "Batguy".

So much illogic in that collection, but I thought it was a fun read. Plus, there's some very interesting dialogue early on for those looking for unintentionally slashy sounding dialogue.

Iron Man #24 and Mighty Avengers #34 came out this week. I had mized feelings about the first, but the second was just a total Wall Banger. Upcoming Wall of Text.

Okay in Iron Man Tony wiped his brain clean during the Worlds Most wanted arc to keep the Super-human registry data from falling into Osborn's hands. Alright, Tony was put through pretty much every imaginable wringer as penance for his cock-ups through Civil War and Secret Invasion. But as he goes to be healed it looks like he is going to be revived via a back-up copy of his brain he made. But the twist is he made the copy before all those clusterfucks happened.

What does this mean? It means the old Tony is back. Literally. The Tony from the past few years is effectively dead. Redemption Equals Death and Redemption Earns Life at the same time? I wanted to see Tony keep working to fix his mistakes, instead of being absolved of them by being an earlier Tony.

As for Mighty Avengers, well Hank Pym really dropped the ball. Asking Loki to be an Avenger? Stupid. But what's even worse is pretty much the whole team immediately deciding to return Hank to his Butt-Monkey status and running off half assed towards Seige. Really after being back and awesome for a year one fuck-up is all it takes for people to ditch you again? That and Ultron coming back again. That asshat dodges death more than Magneto, but at least Mags is a cool character.

Blah, it just felt really ham-fisted to me, breaking up the team like that. I know all the Avengers spin offs are coming to an end to clear the way for a new title, but could they break up the team in a less dumb manner?

Easily influenced by constant pimping as I am, I have bought the first volume of Runaways.

I guess it is.

The big TPB or one of those little ones they sell in the teens section?

Protip, you might want to stop reading after Joss Whedon finishes his arc on Runaways. I blame Terry Moore for stranding the series in limbo.

It's DC's choice if they wanna confuse trade buyers then they can, and I don't know about you but I have all the issues anyway and keep them in chronological order anyway so it doesn't bother me

I can't find Galacta: Daughter of Galactus anywhere but on Marvel Digital Comics, and I only get five pages.

Damn.

She's hot, though.

@Alkthash: It's the smaller one. They didn't have the first volume in the large size, and I didn't feel like waiting. I don't really care about the size anyway. (If anything, it's more convenient for reading in public.)

Also yeah, I've heard it gets worse later on.

I recently got Tangent Reign of Superman #2 from a Half Price store. I liked it; the Spectre, though there wasn't much of him, was interesting, as wes the Green Lantern lady and Plastic Man. And it helps that I don't feel massively locked out of continuity like I do with the main DC continuity. I'm kind of hoping that DC does more of this Tangent Universe, but I'm guessing it's unlikely if this series is the last we've seen of it.

Question: Is the series New Krypton some kind of alternate continuity? (Have mercy on this girl who's fairly new to superheroes.) Or is it in the same continuity as the current Blackest Night thing that's going on?

I've read some issues and it looks interesting. (I also like Mon-El as the new Superman. He's a nice, interesting guy.)

It isn't actually. Krypton actually exists now. Of all the things and people they could choose to bring back, they brought back Krypton (how I don't know).

Well, from what I've read it sounds like Krypton is somehow in the same solar system as Earth. And, unless these folks come from the Phantom Zone (Which is my impression, given General Zod is running things) would all those people be candidates for the Black Lanterns? (Uh, you didn't answer if it was in continuity with the Blackest Night stuff.)

Well, wouldn't that make them all hopelessly fucked. Well, it would if we were talking about a more realistic story, but then there's a sentient planet that can apparently take care of flying menaces in this story.
