I'd like to see a mini-region patterned after Singapore. Needs more mangrove and granite quarry terrain in the Pokemon universe, and maybe some kampung villages that flood on heavy rain days.

Not to mention, "deserts" vary wildly in appearance. Contrast the mentioned Sahara and the Outback, for example.

That's what I was obliquely hinting at with "It's like every desert ever." If Orre can be said to represent a specific place, it's due to traits more specific than "desert."

So... back to 5th Gen speculation?

If they really went with a gameplay overhaul, what do you think would happen? Maybe they could add some stats, or make revives less usable? Maybe they could make EV stats more visible? Something with the trading system? I for one really hope they fix H Ms at least...

Make "weight" a first-class stat? (And "height", I guess.)

More active elements in battles?

With a prefered Poffin/Pokeblock/5th gen Equivilant flavour of "Salty". Colour ethier orange or Purple.

Make IVs matter in terms of stats like height and weight - or the other way around.

"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remake

Make size ratios affect performance in battle.

I assume you want for that to give an advantage to unevolved mons... But what about small AND powerful ones like Weavile?

I'll repeat my idea: a Guts stat. Small, unevolved Pokemon, if they like their trainer, will have a higher Guts ratio compared to highly evolved or simply powerful mons, giving them an advantage on luck-based effects. A giant Lugia will not go all-out against a little Pichu, so no critical hits for it, decreased potential for additional effects, lower evasion.

Attacks would also be reworked to take size ratio into account. Movepools undergo another Great Revolution.

In a pile of notes I had set aside for a fanmade region, one of the new forms of battling permitted was the Battle Royale, aka 6v6.

Make it happen!

But about stats/battles being affected by size... what would happen with Wailord?

If they ever decided to include Weight in as a stat—which would increase the power of impact-type moves such as Body Slam and the chances that any additional statuses would be inflicted—, then I could see Waillord becoming a powerful contender.

To compensate, the heavier Pokemon would need to have low-to-mid Attack stats so that they wouldn't become broken and eliminate the need for Glass Cannon Pokemon.

Perhaps split Speed into Speed and Reflex? The latter determining priority as usual, while significantly divergent values for the former lead to multiple or skipped attacks, ala Slaking.

Wailord would obviously be nerfed in that department, assuming the above.

Damn I wish march 15 would hurry up! (Coro Coro says that they will reveal some new pokes then)

This is how I think it will work out. First 6 months (Januarary to June) Pokemon revealed and mabye a dew screen shots of the game, if any Fans stuck in 2001 will claim that this generation will be the rebirth of Pokemon. Next 6 months (July to December), total blowout, gamplay stuffs revealed to hype game until release Fans stuck in 2001 see screen shots, hopes hit the ground. Game comes out, reviews give good scores but Old fans still stuck in 2001 will claim that the game sucks, will slam it down, and will claim never to be fooled agian.

Sonic Cycle needs to become a trope.

Most Pokemon fans eventually either get over it or leave the fandom.

Still, there's a reason the leading theory is...

Weight already is a pseudo-stat. It's the basis for the damage dealt by Grass Knot and Low Kick. See here.

I say "pseudo-stat" because I imagine it's not recorded in the individual 'mon's data, it's probably just in a table referenced by Species ID Number or something.

It's still a riff of people who still believe that Mewtwo is the most powerful thing in existance, and that anything made past Crystal doesn't exist

Right; but if that (and height) were split out, it would be... interesting, I guess. Concrete implications would minor and probably insignificant, unless new mechanics appear.

And a thought: though I don't think it will be impacting the immediately upcoming games, Nintendo seems to be lacking a Touch Generations game in the Pokémon series.

There are a lot of pseudo-stats already. It's very weird.

^How can you hate on on of the 4 different Generations with hardly any difference between them etheir then some extra features and tweaks?

The generic "TEH NEW DESIGNS ARE FUGLY" or "TEH CONSTESTS / BATTLE FRONTEIR SUCK DONKEY BALLS" doesn't work with me.
