Troper Updates II, Part II

So I have glaring cavities in my two teeth at the back of my mouth. In a week they're gonna have both of them removed. We agreed it's better than a root canal. My stepbrother's been through a few of those and they're by all accounts a hoooooooorrible experience. In the interim I've also been pushed to use mouthwash for once.

My 2000 Lesabre is very roomy inside, but I'm going into the third Texas summer without air conditioning and the second with a broken driver window regulator. Those two are easy fixes, but also there's cosmetic damage from a collision I had early last year, cracked mechanical components from that collision I only just found out about a few months ago, the shocks and struts are down, the fuel meter is unreliable, it needs new intake manifold and valve cover gaskets, and if any of those didn't total it on its own, the transmission is slipping.

Since I became aware of the bigger mechanical issues, I've become a lot more open to my wife's insistence that we get a new car, and as of today we've got one reserved. We've got about half the asking price for it available as a down payment, and the remainder at $300 a month is going to be a bit of a stretch for us, but it would be less than two years of payments.

Now that the day is almost over, I think I can safely say that I think I broke the curse.

Argh, why did I have to arrange so many meetings before I read of the delta variant? Yet more meetings post-poned. Originally had to be on this week. This sucks.

By the by, only just -complete chance!- learnt Corvidae got bounced last year. So liked talking with him in the atheist thread. Seemed like a fine fellow.

Whoa, no need to halt the whole thread just because I asked what I did. Let's just leave it be.

Iunno, maybe this just happens to be a period where no one feels like noting sizable updates to where they're at in life at the moment. I don't think it's that deep.

I got vaccinated yesterday. Aside from some mild pain in my arm where I got the shot (that was expected tho), I feel well!

What is it your first or second dose? Either way, welcome aboard. :)

After my second shot, I spent the next day having fever dreams about weird indie puzzle games.

My wife was very nervous about her first shot (Moderna), but then all day after we went in the morning she was fine. Until about two hours after we went to bed (over 12 hours later), when she was shaking with chill, aching all over, and then spent about five or ten minutes vomiting. She was almost fine by the morning, and just a little fuzzy-headed by the time she had to go to work in the evening.

I asked her if she wanted to skip the second shot, and she said she wanted to finish what she started.

I went out for a job interview today, and I think it went okay. Also, it was 90 degrees, yet on my way I saw someone doing what looked like ballet on the street in what was basically athletic underwear.

I got the phone number of someone I've been chatting to on Facebook and sometime soon I'm going to make the jump and have an actual phone convo. I don't wanna rush anything but I'm a little excited because I think she's cute and she's made it clear she likes me as well.

Between last night and tonight, I had a hellish complication after some black beans I had eaten hours prior failed to be properly digested. I got diarrhea and vomited en masse, which threw away not only my lunch but also my dinner. My body, and especially my intestines, were very debilitated, and woke up at 2 am just to cleanse my intestines some more. Today I've felt a little better, but there were still some bad beans that had to be repulsed via messy defecations.

To make matters worse, I had lost my cellphone (a Galaxy S3) due to having walked in a rush with some unreliable pants from which the phone fell away. I was devastated, but we received a call from a very wholesome gentleman who retrieved the phone and gave it back to us. My father tripped on during the walk, and it was a very painful fall (the avenue was fairly dark). Overall it's been a traumatic 24-hour span, but I've greatly recovered. That's why I've been offline until now.

Whoa, I'm terribly sorry to hear all that. :( Especially the stomach flu part. x_x I'm glad you're feeling better now.

Good news, everyone! Even though today is the "traditional" day of bad luck, this one's been pretty good. :) Ironic that the day of bad luck was at least one good day in a summer that hasn't been.

I wonder if any of the really old tropers can tell us what happened to the first thread and why it was so badly borked. After 15,000 pages, however, it's probably a mystery, wrapped in a question, wrapped in an enigma, and sandwiched between a theory.

As I recall, the original Troper Updates got so long it broke the old forum software's ability to break it into pages, and then soon after Troper Updates II was opened, I think there was a troll interaction that got nuked in a way that glitched out the thread.

i don't know why but its funny to picture a troll getting hold of nuke and the mods scrambling to stop them when suddenly they look up and see a mushroom cloud over Yack fest

I believe that happened way back in 2013, when a troll managed to get Eddie powers and nuke a 15,000 page thread.
