Dude I am crazy, I found a site in like five seconds!

Hit the "GRACE NOTE" link. I don't know if it's the original site or anything.

Trivia: other results from the same search are "glossary of bagpipe terms", "vocalization and status of little and Himalayan cuckoos", and "Felix Mendelssohn".

I think it's a big pile of images from different sources.

The sole Bydo System series ship there is...Not nearly as traumatizing as I was expecting.

Still mildly creepy for other reasons though.

Meanwhile, Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth for N64 kicked my ass when I was a kid (mainly because you had to work your weaponry up to max power from scratch on anything above normal difficulty, whereas on the easier difficulties you started with enough firepower to wipe the screen constantly). The bad ending was kinda depressing and the damaged form of the last boss was creepy.

Ooh, I wanna see it, and I don't even play R-type. Which one?

Found it myself. Are those sperm?

I abandoned ship upon seeing camel toe. I was expecting all of 'em to be like the Grace Note one. D:

(P.S.: Thx 4 finding site GG GL HF.)

I don't understand those abbreviations.

I searched for "r-type grace note musume", in case you're wondering.

Ah, musume, that was the key word I was missing.

(That's chatspeak for thanks for finding site, good game good luck have fun.)

Meanwhile: Since you can never have enough dakka, does that mean that there's no such thing as perfect Bullet Hell?

Since you're on the receiving end of the dakka, I wouldn't exactly call it "perfect".

I dunno, have you seen Reimu at max power? She dishes out an awful lot of her own.

I mostly play Sakura, since the only Touhou game I've seriously played is PCB. If a shmup gives you homing shots, I'll take it.

On that note, I'm off to play as Reimu.

Edit: Just played Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and Subterranean Animism as Reimu. Not that impressed. Sure, her options home, but there isn't all that much dakka.

Been whoring out Shikigami No Shiro 3. I can make it to the Stage 3-2 boss on my first (and only) credit.

I got that game for my friend when I want to Fanime. He still hasn't played it, as Fallout 3 has a death grip on him.

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 are the closest thing I commonly play to a shooter. I Enjoy Halo 1-3 and unreal tournement though. In halo I'm apparently unstoppabale in an insie level with everyone using rockets.

The Metroid Prime games are so not shooters. Not in the "shoot 'em up" sense, at least.

Have you played the Star Fox games though? They're much closer than any Metroid Prime.

I know, They're much more action/platformer/puzzle games. but they ARE technically FPS as well and they are the only ones that I commonly play that are close to qualifying. I actually do not own and REAL Starfox games, Just Adventures

The Metroid Prime games use a first person shooter format for their gameplay interface.

(Whether they "qualify" as FP Ses, by some definition or another, is another topic.)

However, shoot-em-ups seem to be the sorts of games where you pilot some flying thing that shoots things, so I'd say Star Fox is more like what we're talking about here.

"Am I the only person who calls them space shooters, with subgroups vertical, horizontal, and 3D rail?"

People in Japan simply call them "shooting games" or STGs for short, or shooters. Of course, in the rest of the world, "shooting game" takes on a very different meaning. :(

I slightly wish I lived in a time period where I could say "shooting game" and have people know what I'm talking about, not go "oh, a 2D shooter is where you're in a ship in 2 dimensions and you move around and blow shit up..."

...and be met with the "wow that sounds boring" response.

Well, what do Japanese people call sheriffs shooting outlaws popping up on a static screen from behind crates and barrels?

I still say it's more a less a lightgun game.

But what do the Japanese call it?

If I remember correctly they still call it a shooting game.

Embodiment [Normal] will be 1-credited by me. Someday.

As soon as I can figure out how to stop dying with bombs remaining.

I wonder how many Tropers played Apogee's Raptor: Call of the Shadows before? I remember that it used to be compared to Tyrian because they were the best shooters of their DOS generation, with many weapons to choose from.

Ah, yes, the Lethal Joke Enemies. I recall them being considerably tougher than normal enemies. I wonder if anyone was able the play the game on Elite and beat each Sector? Elite Outer Regions 9 was comparable with Lunatic difficulty in Touhou sans the life-saving grazing.

Awright, so I've got Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and the translation patch. I also need a crazy moonspeak font patch so that everything doesn't end up in Courier font. Also, the translation patch runs in DOS mode. Holy crap, this game is old.

I will prevail! I will smash through the incomprehensible Moonside talk and figure out where the options menu is, so that I can find out which button I push to destroy things!
