Disney is still hanging desperately onto the hope that blue people Avatar is still relevant, otherwise they wouldn't have bankrolled two more of them and a whole Pandora theme park
they're gonna have to do a hell of a job with it on both a visual and story level if it's gonna continue, though. the original movie faded pretty hard out of the cultural zeitgeist because once you got past the visuals being ahead of the curve for their time (with that aspect essentially being matched by other films in the decade that would follow), you were left with the same old "colonialism bad, nature good" story that's basically just an updated take on the tired-ass Noble Savage hooey. the spectacle of it can't wash off a stink like that
