During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. " to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

to William Afton
Cut The Founder
to Zurgo
Okay here's Zynbel's write-up
- Hell Blade Senuas Sacrifice: Zynbel is a druid fanatic who had his mentally ill wife burned alive. He would then horrifically abuse Senua, his daughter suffering similar conditions, for years whether it'd be subjecting Senua to beatings and torturous rituals or keeping her imprisoned in his pit for days. After Senua leaves him, Zynbel guided the Northmen to his village in Orkney letting them kill everyone there on the condition that they give him safe passage.
Shame the sequel for Hellblade is only coming out for XBox. hopefully it will come out for Nintendo Switch on a later date like they did with the first game

For Zyndel, I think The Fundamentalist would fit a pothole for his name better.
One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord.Yes to Ivo, Afton; Zurgo, yeah leaning towards no due to his ultimate fate.
Gonna lean on Stuart. I still remember how Koala tried to compare him to Junko and Tyreen in terms of seriousness... which really doesn't work considering that the two were at least treated as genuine sociopaths while Stuart's just a whiny, goofy nerd.
NOISE IS CALLING, PICK UP PHONENo to Zurgo and abstaining on Ivo, but yes to the Satan expansion which I am wholly expecting to be satanic propaganda in-universe but that’s to be seen
Ah well, I did expect this could happen, just glad we properly voted on that. I have some better candidates coming up soon.
CM Sandboxes, MB SandboxesChanging to zurgo
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Honestly, it's no nose skin off my nose if Zurgo gets upvoted or downvoted. At least no one will be bugging Scraggle about a Zurgo EP non stop, cause that would be understandably annoying.
Okay, so I just found out about the Angels With Scaly Wings prequel comics have sections for Reza, and are canon, so putting a hold on him until I can read them.
They're still ongoing, so hard to tell WHEN he'll be able to get an entry.
Sorry, genuinely thought the prequel was solely about the dragons.
Gault, Nazo, and Zyndel

Zurg
IPP Wick Check created.Which Hoffman is this upvote for?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Alfred Hoffman, obviously. His real (first) name is Karl Josef Silberbauer according to Anne Frank.
to Shandor, Severin and keep Nazo.
The First manI'm 90% sure you can't upvote a candidate you proposed
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse? You guys think William's got enough thumbs for me to start writing a draft?
You can. Its just assumed that your upvote is from your ep.
Unless I've missed something

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Yeah but orror EP'ed this guy and is now upvoting him, when I always assumed the EP contained the upvote
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?Yeah that's what I meant was weird.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Sure to the Purple Guy. Switching to no to Stuart.
Gault has 6 upvotes and no downvotes so far. Anyone want to chip in an objection, or does he go through to the drafts pile? Also, anyone else from that series worth effortposting?
- FNAF: Killer in Purple 2: Despite being the protagonist, William Afton manages to be an heinous monster even worse than his canon counterpart. Killing various children, among whose his friend Henry's daughter, William attempts to kill latter by pushing him off a lighthouse before leaving Hurricane. Coming back to town after some time and creating Glitchtrap, William opens a new pizzeria to kill more kids For the Evulz, using their corpses to make pizzas which he then serves to his customers. When surrounded by the ghosts of the children and Henry, William shows little to no fear, stating he knew the animatronics were possessed before killing himself with the Spring Bonnie suit, knowing he will come back.

Don't link to it like that. We're supposed to use redlinks instead.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."
Shandor, Gault and Afton. Keep Nazo.
Abstain on Zurgo and switch to abstain on Severin.
