Subpages cleanup: Complete Monster

Go To

During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.

Specific issues include:

  • Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
  • A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
  • Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
  • Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
  • Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.

It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:

Complete Monster Cleanup Thread

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.

IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.

When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "[tup] to everyone I missed").

No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.

We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.

What is the Work

Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?

This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.

Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.

Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?

Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard

Final Verdict?

Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

[tup] to the Serial Killer, Kaverin, Satan, Henry Saul/Ironsmoke, and Queen Omell. Keep Chris Keller, Yuri Kosygin, and Mark Miles.

[tdown] to Cad Spinner, the Brainiac image (doesn't look heinous enough), and Oroku Saki/Shredder.

[up] Keeping my [tup] on Emperor Banba. I'd say his chemical attacks give him a unique enough niche for him to stand out.

Ok. Found more candidates from the show I recently E Ped a candidate. First duo I am 100% and will happily EP them now.

Who are Mirosław Pielecki and Sebastian Kubczak?

They are two local violent thugs who live in a small house (it isn't clear if it's their actual living place or their shelter where they do their heinous actions) and have homeless people steal for them. The homeless people who refuse or fail them in any way, are brutally murdered and thrown in a pond. And in the beginning of the episode, a body of a homeless man is found and that is what the whole investigation is about. Another homeless woman who was helping with the investigation is savagely beaten and if it wasn't for her husband, she would be beaten to death by these guys. In the end, when the husband of the homeless woman helps the police track these guys, the two thugs threaten him and his wife and promise to kill him and his wife but police jumps in and arrests them. They both get life imprisonment. And it is revealed that 5 bodies of homeless people have been found in a pond.

Heinous?

I say so. I already gave examples of heinous before but since I seen more eps, I will give two more;

An 18 year old girl murdered her older brother who disapproved of her relationship with a man who was 10 years older than her.

A man kidnpaped a thirteen year old boy and demanded ransom from his parents. When his mother paid ransom, he drowned him in a river anyway (before a mother even walked up to him).

A woman murdered her husband and his lover for cheating on her.

And I already mentioned it before, but I will again to clarify; a man pushed his 7-year old step-grandson (not stepson as I originally said) after the little boy caught him cheating on his wife. The boy died on the spot. That's the guy I am considering E Ping. I doubt he will make it, but I hate him so much that it's tempting to EP him.

Verdict?

I say yes to that duo.

[up] it wasn’t said; just that he did commit many serial killings of underage girls many times. Though, 3 were confirmed. One that was murdered in the episode, one that was murdered a year ago in city he went to university, and one that was found in the trunk when he was arrested (she was saved).

So several kids, and this duo only killed 5? I'm...not sure. If the duo killed more than 5, and it was just 5 bodies that were found, I'd be more inclined to give a yes.

They killed more than 5. 5 were found. The guy that they murdered in the ep, was seperate from those 5. And it has been implied they did to a lot more.

Okay, I'll give a yes to the duo then.

BTW, what episode number were they in, and what episode number was the other dude in?

I'm giving a preemptive no to the guy who killed his step-grandson though.

[up][up] Witold's episode was called Fetyszysta which translates to "The Fetishist" while the duo's episode was Ogrodowa which is an adjective word of the world "Ogrod" (which is Polish for garden). Let's just translate it to "Garden".

Ok. I doubt he counts but I am so angry when I watch that Tear Jerker episode, I have to. Also, now I am 100% sure after I rewatched an episode. The boy was the guy’s nephew. Not stepson or stepgrandson.

7-year old Adam falls from the top floor of the tenement he lives with his mother. Throughout the episode, investigation is made. The mother is crying and she visits her brother-in-law and his wife and says “I feel so lonely! I miss my baby so much! He always hugged me and asked me for dinner.” The im-laws act empathetic. But in the end, it’s revealed brother-in-law killed him when the boy caught him cheating on his wife. He gets arrested and narrator reveals he got 25 years in jail.

Heinous?

I mean, in addition to killing that little boy and acting empathetic to crying mom while being aware he did it...

Likely not. I described heinous standard couple times I feel. Hell, I would argue Tomasz Radwan from “Family Court” was more heinous (he tortured a little girl for whole day before killing her) and people were on the fence about him. And “Family Court” has far lower heinous standard.

Verdict?

Sadly, I must say no. I just E Ped him to get my anger out.

Edit: Oh! His name is Miroslaw Poprawa. So if you downvote him, that’s his name.

Yes to the duo. Really not feeling the dad Evil Uncle (Miroslaw).

Reminds me of that one episode of CSI Miami where a woman pimped out her own daughter and had a murder under her belt, but otherwise did not pass muster.

[down] Thanks for clarifying.
