During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Also since the write-ups have calmed down...
- Demonic: The nameless demon is an avian-like monstrosity with a penchant for arson. Having possessed a woman named Angela, the demon gradually drives her to insanity, where she poisons people at a church and burns twenty-one people alive. Several years later, after Angela enters a coma, the demons sets its sights on Angela's daughter, Carly, next. After luring Carly and her friends Martin and Sam to a secret facility in the woods, the demon possesses one of the priests during an exorcism and kills all of the priests' allies while in the new host. It later burns Sam to death and kidnaps Martin, using him as bait to draw out Carly so it can possess her and continue its killing spree.

I wasn't the one who proposed him, but I think there's a possibility Takeda Kanryuu may need to be cut.
For those unaware (and given the scandal surrounding Watsuki Nobuhiro, I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting to read his works anymore), the story of Rurouni Kenshin got an official continuation in a "Hokkaido Arc" story. In this continuation Kenshin and his allies find themselves dealing with a group known as the Kenkaku Heiki.
During one of the Kenkaku Heiki's attacks, a bunch of prisoners get freed, Kanryuu being one of them. He ends up in a town called Otaru where he takes on the alias "Gatou Ringu" and, taking advantage of the townspeople fear of being attacked by the runaway prisoners and other ruffians, begins selling swords to the people in the town. He eventually gets roped into helping Kenshin and the others deal with one member of the Kenkaku Heiki.
He ends up developing a rapport with one of the protagonists, a boy named Alan Inoue. He sees something of a kindred spirit in Alan since the boy has a merchant's spirit, and he even offers to become a mentor to Alan, and when Alan declines, Kanryuu accepts the decision.
There's a moment after he and Alan defeat one of the Kenkaku Heiki with a gatling gun where he reminisces of how he, a weakling, felt invincible wielding such a weapon and how glad he was to be able to use one again, but acknowledges that it is considered an illegal weapon and that he must leave it behind if he is to start anew...though he does mention he won't do things illegally, he'll just exploit gaps in laws or lobby politicians to make certain things legal.
I personally think that him developing a rapport with Alan, especially since the story seems to present it as genuine on Kanryuu's part, may be enough to bring him down to 90% monster rather than 100%, but I'd like to get other people's thoughts on this, especially since he seems to be one of the older keepers.
