This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I was banned for calling lady gaga a troll, but I am a fan of lady gaga. I dunno if someone complained about this or what. But I am actually a fan of her. I find trolling humorous. And just in case, for future reference, if someone reports me for writing that Kanye West is a troll, I also am a fan of his. I'm actually pretty offended myself that someone assumes I'm not a fan because all they have to do is look at other edits I've made to the Gaga page to see I'm not doing it to be malicious.
I think that a "no real life examples" tag should be added to the troll page to prevent these types of mixups in the future. I mean seriously I think it's ridiculous that someone would say I'm trolling gaga.
Go back and see what I've edited and it will clearly see I know things that only a fan would know.
Kanye may not be so obvious I admit, but I am a fan of his. I don't edit pages of people I don't like. I don't care to troll on wikis.
The person even called me rude and told me to clean up my act, which I felt was rude itself. If anyone had looked at my previous history, they would have seen that I'd also edited to say Gaga's natural hair color is brown, devoted her album to her ex Luc Carl, and that Brian May and she were a dream team pair up on You and I. Probably other things, I can't remember.
I also edited Golden Girls... Should I get warned for this too?
- I also edited on the stealth parody page where someone actually insulted her and removed that point. I mean, that was not objective at all. I'm aware on the Stealth Parody what I added was Natter, but I was just annoyed at the person who insulted her on the page. So that was a bad choice on my part. But I knew the rules and what I was doing... It was admittedly inappropriate, and I was acting on impulse.
I am willing to remove the troll entry on the Kanye West page (or you whatever), and not enter it again on any real-life examples. But I really think a "no real-life examples" tag should be added to the troll page so no one else has the same problem as me.
Wow I keep seeing things in past entries on this thread... I have edited things without giving reasons because I've mostly added things, or when I add and delete something at the same thing. But hey it makes sense, I just wasn't thinking to do it when I added stuff after I deleted things. I think this is an ADD thing with me, but I'll fix it from now on.
The person who warned me told me that they intend to ask for a "no real life examples tag" on the troll page. This should be implemented as soon as possible in my opinion.

Meowzer: you were banned for putting the Troll trope on pages of popular singers and for edits that were opinion. The wiki is not interested in collecting people's opinions of things, we are interested in collecting tropes about works of fiction.
We don't find trolling funny here, we ban people who troll.
I strongly suggest that you look at the Administrivia page, the Welcome To TV Tropes page, Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgment and the How To Write An Example. I also suggest that you take the time to find out how the place operates before making assumptions about what is acceptable.

I am not a troll, and there should be a "do not add real life examples" added to the troll page for future people so no one will be banned for making a mistake like this.
Someone should obviously correct the andy kaufman comparison to kanye west (as that is essentially calling him a troll) and remove andy kaufman from the troll page. These are all real life examples.
And for future reference don't make assumptions about people and ban them before talking about it to them first and getting the story straight.

Like to ask for my PM suspension to be lifted. I fully apologize for being unnecessarily pissy towards the other troper. I was feeling stressed out that day, and overreacted. It was a mistake.
Meowzer: I see that you heavily edited your initial response in post 379.
The problem is not exclusively about the edits calling performers Trolls. One of the problems is that you added examples that were based on your opinions about the performers. Another problem was the example speculating that Lady Gaga may be coprophilic. That kind of speculation is really inappropriate for this wiki.
The wiki is not interested in collecting examples about real people, no matter the profession. This wiki is about collecting tropes in fiction. If you indicate that you have read the pages that I recommended as well as the first two articles on the Administrivia index: The Goals of TV Tropes and Tv Tropes Customs, and understand the wiki's goals, we can talk about lifting the suspension. It would also be good to drop the sense of aggrievement.
Let's talk about this again in a week, March 30th.

Erforce, I believe there's been a mixup regarding Underworld, as well as some potential mishandling.
Yesterday, you turned Underworld into a disambig, which is normally a free action and no one would raise an eyebrow. However, you were also reported as removing wicks to that page - not changing them to wick the proper page, just removing them.
Could you please tell us what happened?
@Goldstone: All your ban notice says is "page blanking." I'll look into it, but does that ring any bells?
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.
I changed some wicks from Underworld to The Underworld on some pages, were the two were mixed up. I also made some redirects to Film/Underworld based on its sequels (Evolution, Rise of the Lycans and Awakening) and changed the wicks accordingly on some pages during the migration progress.

Meowzer: Your editing was suspended because you were making edits to the wiki that are not in compliance with our policies.
When people add inappropriate and/or personal opinion examples to a page other people have to clean them up. It is much more efficient to stop the bad edits at the the source than it is to have to track someone's edits and clean up after them.
The problem with the Lady Gaga edit is that you made the WMG about Lady Gaga. Her real or imagined sexual predilections are not tropes.
I have told you what the problems were and where to go to find out more about wiki policy. At the end of the week cool down, if you indicate that you understand wiki policy and are willing to edit within our guidelines the suspension will be lifted.

On Older Than Dirt and Older Than Feudalism, and possibly others, you removed the wicks entirely, leaving plain text. I just want to know why you did so rather than redirect them to The Underworld, since you were editing the page anyway.

I don't know what bad I did to Underworld or Film/Underworld. As far as I know I was only fixing errors, nothing against the rules. About the "page blanking" thing. The pages I blanked were pages that I requested to be removed, like YMMV about Real Life people, like Maggie Gyllenhaal, which I reported to the Cut List and they locked it. Another page I blanked was Trivia/PrinceOfPersia, which I already duplicated under the name Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time before blanking it and reporting it to the Cut List shortly after. I was very surprised my editing was turned off, and I'd really like to be able to edit again. Whatever I did, I apologise and it won't happen again.

Goldstone, please do not blank pages. The reason we have cutmasters is so they can make the call on deletion. If you blank the page then request a cut, you are assuming the cutmaster will agree. Further, a mod who is not looking at the cutlist will have no idea why the page was blanked. It was just blanked.

Hey, whoever reads these. I was suspended, and while it was totally justified, as i did a bunch of bad edits(really bad edits, i will admit) i have learned my lesson, never edit while extremely tired and partially drunk and i formally apologize for my mistake. I did not know however that the ban went on indefinitely. I feel i can contribute and will make sure not to just prattle on and make gratuitous use of bullet points. Edit: any tips you could give me would be good, but i was more or less just banned without any messaging. I am not that talented at editing, i mostly just take the codes and stuff others use and apply them to what i write, if applicable.
