Man, Hinox (as in, the Bottle Grotto miniboss) are deadly af in the Link's Awakening remake. They keep throwing bombs constantly, and they also love rushing towards you trying to grab you, so it's really hard to hit them without getting hurt yourself.
Recently I completed playthroughs of Link To The Past and Adventure Of Link without looking up any information online or in any printed media. The only other Zelda game I've completed without looking up hints or strategy is Ocarina Of Time.
A big reason why I could beat these games without help is how often I've already played them. I've played Ocarina at least 7 times, Adventure Of Link 5 times and I played Link To The Past 4 times.
What about you? Have you ever beaten a Zelda game without looking up any information online or other places?
No, Mr. Bunker, "this here" is justiceI beat OOT by memory but that didn't really count cause the first times I used the player's guide.
The Protomen enhanced my life. The original, LTTP, and OOT, though I should add that I learned how to beat the first two because I watched my older brother do it.
Link's Awakening, because it was the nineties and lacking a computer I didn't really participate in the early internet groups and didn't realize that gaming magazines and the like were things that existed.
And then I think I managed to beat both Oracle games, though my memory of those are kind of hazy.
Replaying The Wind Waker it only strikes me now that BoTW's Paraglider is the successor of the Deku Leaf.
I mean, I guess it's obvious, but it only really clicked in my mind just now.
Heart of StoneCommon Knowledge has this example:
- Word of God is that the individual heroes of each game may not actually be named Link. As the series' title suggests, the games are legends—meaning that they were passed down many, many generations after they happened. It's possible that each character we know as "Link" had their own name which was retroactively changed to "Link" by future storytellers, and indeed, most games allow you to choose the name of the hero. This is not true for Zelda or Ganon, however; every princess named Zelda actually had that name, and Ganon is usually the same exact person. Breath of The Wild, which has fully voice-acted cutscenes, does not allow the player to choose Link's name, as the voice actors needed a name to refer to him by in the dialogue, though Link still may not be his real name.
How accurate is it? I know the Word of God that Link's name isn't always actually Link, but the legends part seems like Epileptic Trees. BOTW Link not being called "Link" also seems wrong.
Any theory that presupposes that details are inaccurate because the games are “legends” is immediately suspect, in my mind.
I'm gonna call BS on that one. It presupposes that every single detail about the game world, story, etc., is accurately shown in the game itself except that Link's name is different.
And sure, you can name your save file 'my dude' for hilariousness in Ocarina, but the character's name is still Link.
It's been fun.Yeah that entry is just. Wrong.
I never used guides to beat Zelda games. 100% them? Sure. But I beat every Zelda game on my own without guides besides for Zelda 1 and ALTTP (due to how young I was when I first played the latter, and how little time I had when I played the former).
I also 100%ed ALBW without any guides on my own, too, simply because of how much I adored that game and I wanted to fully complete it without any guides at all.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI'm not sure I've ever 100%ed a Zelda game (figuring out pieces of heart was tough in Ocarina when I was under 10), but I think the only time I ever really used a "guide" was my dad's old notes on how to beat Blind in Link to the Past. Handwritten.
It's been fun.I know about at least one heart pieces in ocarina of time which isn't in the guide books, its really weird too because you the iron boots for it
Its in hyrule field and you need to use a bomb to the open the hole
New theme music also a boxI had strategy guides for Oo T, MM, the Oracle games, MC, and PH, and I might have used an online guide for TP, but don't quote me on that.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I got 100% on Majora's Mask on the 3DS. Most of the time I don't bother.
I mean, I got all the heart/stamina upgrades in Breath of the Wild, but that's mainly because there's a reward for doing so.
Heart of StoneIs the artstyle of Link's Awakening really so controversial that the creator had to explain why they went with it? This feels like Wind Waker all over again...
Dude what the fuck, the very first line in that image is about (super-NSFW, click at your own risk) holding hands.
At least give us warning.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Wow, that's lood.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I've long wanted to see characters from the Zelda cartoon in a TV commercial, I can picture it now:
Zelda: You know, Link, nothing beats the taste of Sprite (Link eats Sprite The Fairy) Sprite The SODA, you idiot!
No, Mr. Bunker, "this here" is justiceSo, anybody else want a traditional 3D Zelda in the artstyle of the Link's Awakening remake? It would definitely work in the Adult timeline, considering they have similar cartoonish colorful styles.
I'd be down for one if it were a sequel to Triforce Heroes, which itself was a sequel to ALBW. Maybe have it set in Lorule again and bring back Princess Hilda?
I started playing Wind Waker HD and am kind of baffled they assigned the entire map to the Gamepad. Nintendo was really all-in on the hardware gimmicks in those days weren't they?
Aren't they always? It's pretty much how they justify the existence of their consoles.
Yeah but there's a difference between trying out a new gimmick in the hopes of providing a fruitful gaming experience and actively making a game worse (an HD update of an old game at that) to justify using a tablet as a controller.
Eiji Aonuma explains (No pun intended) why they went with the artstyle they did for the Link's Awakening remake;
