He’s not doing nothing. He’s running a shop.
I'm pretty sure everyone who's played the original is looking forward to getting Palpatined in HD.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! And, like, what exactly do you expect him to do other than run his shop? It's not like the world needs saving from anything other than that one asshole who stole the shop's bow, and he fried that thief up good.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."If anything they need saved from Link Thief since he's trying to end their world by waking up the windfish.
What's with the shopkeepers in Zelda games and having a dangerous side to them? The Awakening shopkeeper, the Happy Mask Salesman, heck, even Skyward Sword-era Beedle.
It's been 3000 years…Don't forget Ravio, he's Link himself!
I'd say they're following the D&D tradition of shopkeepers being high-level retired adventurers, but I'm not sure the Zelda designers would have heard of that, at least not back in the Link's Awakening era.
And don't forget the bird selling lamp oil in Twilight Princess. Seriously, his response to taking oil without paying first almost makes up for the game's lack of cuccoo attacks!
They very well could have, given the D&D influences in even older games, including Final Fantasy.
Final Fantasy I is a straight-up rip-off of D&D, to the point that it included proprietary monsters in the Japanese version (specifically, beholders) that were changed in localization so they wouldn't get sued.
Yeah most of the Square staff back in the day were pretty big fans of Dn D.
It's interesting, because in D&D, having the shopkeepers be badasses serves the purpose of making sure the players can't just rob them blind.
And in kind of serves the same purpose here, except that they went out of their way to make it possible to steal from shops. Feels like somebody enjoyed that trope when they ran into it playing D&D, and wanted to replicate that experience.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."I'm still stealing that bow...
Oh yeah, I'm stealing the crap out of that bow.
Apparently today is the 33rd anniversary of the original game's release.
reddit won't shut up about it....
you make me want to do terrible things to you~Man, I always forget that I share my birthday with my favourite game series (a few years apart).
Next Zelda game better have something named after Reggie in it. Or maybe put Reggie in it.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Sadly, Reggie is leaving in April.
We could always put the new president Doug Bowser in a Bowser suit and add him in.
If that's what your talking about then it went way over my head.
Still leaving my original for lulz.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."C'est la vie Reggie.
You did good work.
And now that I've acknowledge this, time for Zelda topics again.
So, I've been thinking about it, and I think the Toon versions of Link and Zelda might be real popular among the game makers. I mean, after their original run with that style, we saw multiple games with that particular style, two of which were sequels to the original game that did it.
Toon Link has been in every incarnation of those games with the same look (and is popular enough to be in multiple Smash bros games as well), while the Toon Zelda style has only been used three times (WW, MC, and ST). Then we have Tetra, who's more or less treated as her own character despite being Zelda as well. Even Sheik never pulled that off, and she started that trend of having Zelda do more than just sit around waiting to be rescued...in the games.
Now BOTW Link might be on the road to be the next big thing for re-used Link incarnations, but we'll see.
One Strip! One Strip!I don't mind the art style of the remake, but I don't like the way Link looks. I'm fine with the scenery and the enemies and everything else, but something about Link rubs me the wrong way.
Actually having a personality probably helped Tetra in that regard.
I want to know why that dude is just sitting on his ass doing nothing if he's so powerful.
One Strip! One Strip!
