Paging ~El Rise to the thread. Anyway, I agree with cutting for being an old page that's simply The Same, but More to Sword and Sorcery (Sword and Sorcery done badly).
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Cut.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessCut it
Searching up the term online, it just brings up the titular Anderson essay
There is a Wikitionary entry about it but ehhhhh
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectOh, right, neglected to link to the previous TRS thread. It happened in 2020 and was for complaining, and I don't remember if anyone brought up The Same, but More (I might go back through it later).

back lolCut away!
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AThe whole trope is a thud and blunder in itself and is best to be cut.
Kirby is awesome.I saw that this was listed on Tropes Needing TRS with the following description:
- Thud And Blunder: Only 7 examples and 5 wicks. Named for a 1978 essay critiquing cliched fantasy writing, this seems to be defined as "Rated M for Manly Sword and Sorcery, but bad."
So it was listed there for the same reason I mentioned being in favor of cutting it in the second post of this thread. I also looked at the previous TRS thread and there were arguments in favor of a page for the term being useful, but I disagree because it seems like the term was only used by that one essay instead of being anything widespread, and I don't think there's anything stopping anyone from making a work page for the essay itself if anyone wants the term to have some sort of presence on the wiki.

1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die (all editions) progress: 426/1089 (39.12%)I think the idea of Thud and Blunder was to criticize that lack of realism and even common sense and logic. For example having 50 lbs swords and treating horses like motorcycles. So I think the article is also wrong.

Complaining Magnet + The Same, but More = Easy Cut.
"As long as I have my comrades with me, I can do anything!" (She/Her) (Current Focus: Cleaning Hell Is That Noise misuse)Agree to cut, but since we are a catalogue of tropes, I think we should acknowledge the term in the Sword and Sorcery article. Something like "unrealistic and formulaic sword and sorcery stories have been referred to with the disparaging term 'thud and blunder'", and a link to Andersen's essay.

It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdDefinitely cut.

Graffiti WallSince the page is wick-starved, let's go ahead and cut.
Edit: Enacted Doktorvon Eurotrash's suggestion in post 18.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Just one wick left and someone appears to be in the process of removing it, so locking.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.
Note: This thread was proposed by El Rise.
Launched in 2010, yet it only amassed 9 wicks and 8 on-page examples. This makes it wick-starved and example-starved. Moreover, according to the description in the main page, it is a specific style of Sword and Sorcery that's frowned upon (i.e., "bad"). Just cut it.
