From the name alone, I would've assumed that it's a form of Comical Overreaction, where someone throws a huge fit over an innocuous comment.

I thought it was like a one time version of Berserk Button that's limited to insults

Macron's notesOriginal YKTTW, if it helps.
...That description is equally as obtuse.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessLike Adept, my instinct here would be that Minor Insult Meltdown should be primarily a comedic trope. I have no idea if the examples bear that out but it sounds more distinct than a dramatic interpretation would be.
That's what I thought it was too, reading the description to check is what got me into this mess.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWait, the trope name implies a character getting worked up over a small insult. So it isn't it?
Okay, so, I'm reviving this so that I can do a wick check for it later. This seems like a mess of a trope. However, with only 151 wicks... I'll probably just do them all.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessMinor Insult Wick Check will be up momentarily.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessYo, ~𝕋𝕒𝕓𝕤 I just noticed you'd completed the wick check. Thanks so much! Don't worry if the count's off, I'll go through now and see how the numbers stack up.
Edit: Your numbers were correct! And I made a TRS queue post for it.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessYou're welcome! Let's see how TRS goes.
I'm having trouble understanding what Minor Insult Meltdown is meant to be. The description is a massive Example As Thesis that never gets around to the actual point, and the laconic is just "A character hurts another character more than they had intended with their choice of words", which I feel like is a different trope entirely (something like Innocently Insensitive or More Insulting than Intended).
So much is made about the severity of the reaction, but not about what is supposed to have caused the reaction. The description comes off as if it's describing something like Beware the Nice Ones, Rage Breaking Point, Did You Think I Can't Feel?, etc. It's all starting to make me wonder if this is a distinct concept, and if anyone else finds it as confusing as I do.
