Did you see the tiny green dinosaurs at the bottom of the image? Thought not. The focal point of the image looks like a spaceship crashed into the middle of a futuristic city, which fails to get across this trope, which is "all sorts of different time periods together at the same time". I don't know this show, but all it looks like is a futuristic ship in a futuristic city.

I'd actually say it looks like a futuristic ship in a modern city that for some reason also has one (1) Victorian neo-Gothic clock tower and one (1) Crystal Spire.

Still, no, not a a good picture.

You have to actually pause and notice all the elements that make this trope illustrative since they're not clear/obvious. Not a big fan of it. [tdown]

It's not unillustrative, just slightly obtuse. I think it's a weak keep, but I'm open to replacements.

Suggested image is much better. I can clearly tell that there are a wide variety of characters of different time periods in it.

The original image is okay, but I agree that I don't really see the dinosaurs at first, and I feel that the image from Mr. Peabody & Sherman shows the "all of time" part of the trope name much better.

Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow.

The foreground characters don't seem to have a problem with what's going on, which makes me think it's a conceptual image more than actually illustrating the trope going on.

I like 6 but I'd like to see a version without the characters at the bottom, who are taking up a lot of real estate and not adding to the trope.

[up]Well, there's a big space-time wormhole in the sky, which seems to convey the Time Crash part.

Unless you think that's a completely natural phenomenom.

[up] Natural or artificial doesn't matter, what it looks is non-threatening considering how excited everyone is about it.

[up]But does that matter? It looks like an exciting adventure. They don't need to be frowning or whatever.

It's like saying the following is not a threatening situation.

I honestly don't even know where this is coming from. The laconic itself goees "The past, present, and future all occur simultaneously". Nothing about this having to be "a threatening disaster", as if the lightning wormhole is not ominous enough.

The description itself makes reference to "saving all the days", but other than that it does focus on the different ways and reasons this trope could happen. I do want to just note though that laconics aren't to be trusted, and that if the description was clear on the threatening situation aspect, then the laconic would be misleading you.

Again, it's identified as a subtrope of Time Crash, which is defined as a disaster; not duplicating Time Crash's description is typical, since it's assumed all examples of a subtrope are examples of its supertrope by default.

Which again does not change the fact that the image depicts an ominous space-time rip in the background.

It honestly just feels like nitpicking. An image does not need to be 100% perfect.

If I'm outvoted, I'm outvoted, but it's hardly nitpicking to ask for an image suggestion based on more than just the laconic. The trope is "several time periods overlapping with each other and threatening all of them" but the picture shows "a dozen prominent historical figures emerge from a wormhole to have a party in a modern city".

It's trying to fit an Historical Domain Crossover-shaped-peg into a hole for the time-travel version of Merged Reality.

[up]And I think the wormhole in the sky is a threatening enough phenomenom to count as illustrative, because it's clearly unnatural.

I'm not basing this solely on the laconic either. I'm primarily questioning your logic about there being no threat depicted in the picture.

In fact, the trope image for Time Crash is not even illustrative, as it only shows a Dali melting clock, but you keep going back to it as if it is showing everything we need to know about this subtrope.

The page image for Time Crash is a visual metaphor, but it also isn't the topic of this thread so why would I be talking about it? I'm only citing its description because apparently when the description of All of Time at Once says things like "It's generally accepted that if this happens then you've really messed up. In fact, it might be used in the story as the default way to show The Biggest Time Travel Screw Up Yet" apparently what that indicates is "nothing about this having to be a threatening disaster".

I seriously don't understand your argument. You keep going back to the fact that the wormhole doesn't look 'natural' as though that has to do with whether it looks like it's broken time. (Like, natural disasters also exist?) It's just a wormhole. The poster is about 50% Back to the Future and 50% Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and I wouldn't get Time Crash out of either of those, either.
