Should I advertise this in ATT? Or do you want to?
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallIf you want to advertise the crowner on ATT, you are free to do that.
Macron's notesI will do that.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallCalling thread in favor of temporarily locking Pages Needing Wiki Magic until we figure out what to do with it.
Macron's notesRecap of suggestions so far (not a crowner)
- Remove entries from Pages Needing Wiki Magic, each problem type goes to corresponding subindex so they can be handled separately. Make new subindexes if needed.
- Limit Works Needing Tropes to 3-8 on-page examples. Less than 3 is an automatic cut and more than 8 is healthy.
- Forbid tropers indexing pages they've made. Pages shouldn't be made in condition that requires help right away.
Not sure about option 1 yet but I agree with option 2 and 3.

Macron's notesI guess option 1 makes sense to me, but mostly because I never understood the point of the main page, or at least I've always thought it's been overused for things that fit better on the subindexes. So many of the listed works just use "need tropes" as a reason, which is already covered.
I also find that it's sort of arbitrary as to what's considered a page that "needs help" if there's no specific criteria.

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessHaven't formed much of a concrete opinion on Option 1 or 2 yet but a definite to Option 3.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallBumping. I know the recap wasn't a crowner suggestion but since discussion has died, maybe we should crowner our options?
Macron's notesI was thinking about this thread today actually.
A crowner might work.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallCrowner hooked.
Macron's notes~MacronNotes just so you know, the link in the ATT points to Wiki Talk, not this thread
Sorry, that's fixed.
Macron's notesThe point was that if an article was going to be on multiple (I was enforcing 3+) subindexes, then it made more sense to put it on the broader page. Essentially implying that only being on one subindex is fine, but multiple subpages makes it more likely to be cut.
It is entirely opposite to how we normally sort pages, so that structure may appear unintuitive to editors familiar with the normal rules. The fact that some editors used it for "advertising" of their pages is a sore point for me.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Oi, welcome back Crazy for one thing, been a little bit, we missed you :)
Yeah, it is very unintuitive for me as to where everything is supposed to go and why. Like, I'm not really sure it's a good idea to have an index that runs differently from all other indexes like this, especially since people who don't get what it's for are still going to be adding things wherever they assume they go.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI am all for limiting the entries on Works Needing Tropes, though I suppose there is an issue about what to do with the numerous pages I've found while combing the Music/ namespace, where they are composer pages without a single trope attached (apparently there's still a murky understanding about whether they're Creator/ or Music/ though I'm under the understanding that it's the latter). Also should have brought up Creator/ pages since while examples are nice, they aren't as much of a priority as in work pages.

1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die (all editions) progress: 426/1089 (39.12%)Calling crowner in favor of all three options:

I created Sandbox.Pages Needing Wiki Magic so that we can sort through the list.
Macron's notesIs there much to sort if the index is already sorted? Entries just need to be moved to each subpage provided in the context (ex. "Needs tropes and wicks" means adding to Works Needing Tropes and Pages Needing Wicks.) until only unclear ones remain.
Though I guess it's hard to do when the page is locked, so the sandbox can track what's already been moved.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupYeah, I mostly made the sandbox because the page was locked and to see if there were sections that needed to be split off.
Macron's notesGoing to do more work on the sandbox tomorrow so that we eventually unlock Administrivia.Pages Needing Wiki Magic.
Macron's notesSeems that people just add more entries to the sandbox even though Admin/ is locked for this reason, so I'll prioritize next on sorting this. Maybe a bold note wouldn't hurt.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupWouldn't be the first time people used sandboxes as a substitute for the real page...
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessBtw what does "Found a trope whose page is pitiful, but don't want to champion a redux on Trope Launch Pad?" mean, in ancient times you could send tropes to TLP instead of TRS if they were lacking?
I've also changed a bit at Tropes Needing Examples as it was literally impossible.

TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup
Crown Description:
Hooked a crowner for Pages Needing Wiki Magic. I guess we want to lock the subpages we'll need further discussion and another crowner.
