Misused (alt names crowner 28 Feb 2021): Deader Than Disco

Coming in here from the cleanup thread, and I never saw anything like that. I think the issue was more that with the steady fragmentation of "a" pop culture instead of everyone having their own little niche, it's increasingly unlikely for two "men on the street" to necessarily have heard of the same works, which made examples difficult to find.

That makes sense.

Kevjro 7, the sponsor for the Disco Sucks TLP, has announced he'll be launching the trope under that name on Sunday. What should we do with this thread afterwards?

Need to add a note on the main page for Condemned by History - add examples more than 5 years old.

The disco example in CondemnedByHistory.Music is still extremely bloated. I think it should be moved to the Analysis page of Disco Sucks and a new, much more concise example be written in its place.

The Red Red Knoovy has cleaned my issue up. Congrats to him.

I changed the wick on DarthWiki.Crappy Trope Definitions YMMV and removed entries that were related to misinterpretation of the "Deader" part of the old name instead of misinterpreting the retrospective aspect. I considered getting rid of the entry entirely, but I felt some could be kept.

I made my account solely because I found this trope needed to be cut. Eventually, I was told that a wick check would be more appropriate, which led to this thread. Once this thread closes, my work here will be done.

The two most recent posts, this one included, are mine...and I made them 4 days apart. If that isn't a good indicator that this thread should be closed, I don't know what is.

There still are 141 wicks to go through.

Would've been REAL nice to get more frequent updates on that, good sir.

Damn. I didn't think I was being THAT rude. In any case, even if I WAS capable of removing wicks, I feel it's progressing smoothly without me.

(Seriously, is "good sir" all someone needs to write in order to be condescending?)

Well, it's not that but the fact that you're asking for faster updates. These things take time. The only way to ensure they get done as fast as you'd like is to dive in yourself.

The reason I was asking for "faster" updates (heavy quotes there) is because I didn't know we had to remove all the DTD wicks before we could close the thread.

Because everyone is working on different projects. You can't force people to work on something. We're all volunteers here, we all do what we feel like doing.

And yeah. A project needs to be 100% completed before we can move on, which is why threads get stuck in the projects phase.

Quote me forcing people to speed the wick removal along. Asking people to give me updates on the project and just yelling out "HURRY UP AND GET THIS DONE SO WE CAN BE DONE WITH THIS THREAD" are two entirely separate things.

I didn't accuse you of doing that. I was just explaining why this project updates sporadically and why requesting more updates can come off as pushy. Updates come when people do the work. Thus, requesting updates is requesting work.
