Eh, I say Keep Until Better Image Suggested. There's enough visual cues for me, and the suggestions don't do it for me.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe arguments against the current strike me as red paint. The hands are positioned palm-down, which to me indicates "about to do something dramatic like cast a spell" more than "strike someone". The evil sorcerer in the last panel of 1.1 has the same red gold and "dark" color scheme, and is not as in focus. I find the art style of 1.2 much less clear.
I suppose a crop of 1.1 might be in an improvement as the magic is clearer and he's saying something befitting an evil sorcerer, but I'm not sure.
As tired as I am of webcomic images, that works by clearly showing him performing magic.
Keet cleanup7.1 is my favorite.
My favorite sci fi enemies are the giant sexy depressed womenNice examples! That's a tough choice for me between 4.1, 6.3, and 7.1.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! There are a lot of good ones here. I like 7.1 the best.
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.7'1. Is excellent
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I'll go with 7.1 just to choose something.
(Annoyed grunt)Sure, 7.1 it is.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe existing image gets the sinister vibe across, as does 7.2 (Jafar toying with Aladdin). Though if you want obvious spellcasting, this pic◊ of a Magic by Any Other Name Evil Sorceror might work.
So my votes would be 16.1, then original image, then 7.2, then 6.3.

What you describe here is not this trope, though. The trope description explicitly points out that the evil sorcerer usually has better combat skills than the heroes (except hand-to-hand, obviously), so energy blasts are entirely appropriate.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!7.1 is pretty good, but I really like 9.1 as well.
Yes; thanks for catching that. I’ve corrected my vote.

When you said 8.1, did you mean 9.1? Post 8 doesn't have any images in it.
Anyway, I prefer 7.1 so far.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Crowner?
Why so serious?Looks like strong consensus for 7.1 to me.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I actually find 7.1. to be one of the poorer suggestions because of composition.

You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I like that one.
I tend to agree, 7.1 is really dark in the literal sense and that makes the staff far more prominent than Jafar himself. My preference goes to 4.1, 9.1 and 22.
22 is pretty good.
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
I'm not sure who this guy is. With his red-and-gold color scheme he looks more angry than evil, and judging by his pose he looks more like a monk than a sorcerer (he looks like he's about to physically assault someone). So that strikes me as JAFAAC rather than this trope.
A better example, last panel (or crop thereof), or some panels of this◊.
