So with the leading split option, Wedding Day can still get disambiguated right?

What would happen to videos attached to Wedding Day but don't fit any specific trope? Would they be deleted? (Asking for a friend who submitted two of them.)smile

They'll likely have to be removed by a moderator.

Anyways, we are unanimous regarding a split, so let's go with it.

In addition, we can make Wedding Day a disambig, since the ratio's good. [tup]

So what tropes are we looking at here?

  • Wedding Day Episode: Random episode with a wedding. Tends to be about someone besides the main characters, more of a setting than the plot.
  • Wedding Day Finale: Finale with a wedding. Usually about the main characters, much more likely for them to be central in planning, almost always ends with a cliffhanger of some sort.
  • Silly Wedding (or maybe Theme Wedding): The wedding is weird, but not necessarily going wrong. Like a clown wedding or something.
  • Hectic Wedding: Everything goes wrong.
  • Perfect Wedding Day: Nothing goes wrong. Technically just an aversion of Hectic Wedding, but something going wrong is so common that the opposite probably deserves its own trope.

Did I miss anything?

Drafts for Wedding Episode and Wedding Finale are now up, please redirect relevant examples from dewicking there. I'm going to be working on moving the main-page examples on Wedding Day.

EDIT: And regarding TRS-mandated TLP efforts... I have a pretty good track record of getting stuff out of the TLP, but I'm hoping for help on this one.

Wedding Finale and Wedding Episode have both been launched. Dewicking can start in earnest now; 591 to go.

Does Wedding Episode apply to only episodes of television series and not any work focused around a wedding?

Probably. "Episode" tropes are based around the idea that this is a break from the norm for a work.

I have always seen things like comic book issues and book chapters as analogous to them, and freely use the episode tropes to describe those. The base notion is [up], it's an installment that has them go to a wedding for some reason.

EDIT: Knocked out the Main/ wicks (so much useless potholing) and some low-hanging-fruit namespaces; under 500 to go.

I noticed that the cleanup crew turned a Wedding Day example into a Wedding Episode example although it was just a wedding scene in a movie. Are we that lax with the scope of Wedding Episode?

[up]As the person who launched Wedding Episode, I would not consider it a correct example. Maybe if the film was one in a series that was uniquely wedding-centered, an anthology, or at least split into definite 'acts' and one of the segments was wedding-centered, but just 'a wedding is in this film' is basically what the old Wedding Day was.

It's a slice-of-life montage movie and the scene lasts for a couple of seconds. I am just worried that this kind of misjudgment is structural and has lead to misuse on a larger scale. Can you check back with jamespolk?

Least I can do is go through and see who submitted the videos, and message them telling them what's going on. I'll do that before pulling.

Edit: Well, that complicates things. Can't see who submitted them on the page itself. Plus, the Videos section cannot filter by page. I'll just decline, and mark the reason as "other" and link to the thread or note that it's now a disambiguation.

Okay, took down the videos, and either linked to this thread or pointed the users to Wedding Episode, as appropriate.
