Proposing to add an entry to Growing the Beard.
- For most of DEATH BATTLE's lifespan, the battles consisted of mostly Excuse Plots that rarely had the characters interacting with each other for the sake of putting emphasis on the battles themselves. Starting with "Saitama VS Popeye", however, a precedent was set for battles to become more personal and have the characters understand each other on a deeper level whilst they're fighting, with Season 9 carrying on the episode's legacy with episodes such as "Tanjiro VS Jonathan Joestar", "Magneto VS Tetsuo", and "SpongeBob VS Aquaman".
I'm not sure if that would actually count as an example of Growing the Beard. That trope is about the point where the work as a whole begins to have a dramatic, noticeable increase in quality. I think that for a show this popular, the end of Season 8 might be a bit too late for such a thing to happen. I'm also not sure if more personal character interactions is enough on its own to count as this.
I feel that this could be a pretty notable entry to add for They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot, as I've seen several people note this in terms of Gogeta VS Vegito. Though of course, whoever edits the page is free to make the call themselves.
- In Gogeta VS Vegito, both analysis have the fighters be given their abilities from Dragon Ball Heroes, including special attack variants, Gogeta's unique Super Saiyan Blue Evolution appearance, and the Super Full Power Saiyan 4 Limit Breaker form for both fighters. However, the fight doesn't make use of any of the unique abilities from Heroes letalone the transformations, with fans oddly confused on why these abilities would be given special mention when the animation didn't feature them at all. In fact, the lack of the special Heroes abilities have brought arguments of the DEATH BATTLE! animation simply being a rehash of the DBX version due to the transformations taking the exact same route.
On the Special Effects Failure page, for Ryu vs. Jin, it says this.
Boomstick's post-fight Bond One-Liner suggests that Ryu's Shinkuu Hadouken blasted a hole through Jin's torso, but there's nothing in the fight itself that conveys such a thing happening.
The issue is that the fight does show this - you see blood coming from Jin's chest, and from the shot of him having fallen to the ground, you can see that there's a hole within his chest, so no, the fight does convey this. Should I remove the example, or...

Yeah. I saw blood spray out of the hole in Jin's chest onto the floor myself. Remove it.
"I just need one of you to come here to give your life to the sun god. It will be for the monkey city's glory."On the Curb-Stomp Battle section, I'd like to see an entry be added there: the Season 5 fight "Doctor Strange vs. Doctor Fate" since, despite featuring two sorcerers with utterly powerful spells and abilities, is actually one very ugly stomp, having watched the fight and discovering how anything Strange could do, Fate could do, too, but even more. To break it down:
- While Strange is capable of draining magical energy from others, it could be dangerous for him. Fate, on the other hand, could do the same and counter it, with no such downsides.
- Strange has fought a 5,000-year war, but Nabu's been around since the beginning of the universe, over 10 billion years, giving Fate the upper hand in terms of experience.
- Fate also has the advantage in casting the majority of his spells non-verbally, while many of Strange's required specific hand movements and incantations.
- While it was only a matter of time until the Eye of Agamotto informed Strange of Fate's one weakness, depowering him is no easy task, since Fate has his own magic and his superhuman strength, something Strange doesn't have at all. Furthermore, Fate has also developed numerous counters to protect the helmet and the host should it be removed, meaning it's no longer the weakness it was in older stories.
- Compared to Strange's spell that moved him six quadrillion times the speed of light, Fate's helmet's one-year trip from Earth to the edge of the universe and back at nearly 28 decillion times the speed of light makes Fate four quintillion times faster than Strange.
- And as the final nail of Strange's coffin, the power boost with Inza's soul from the amulet puts Fate on a level above the gods in his universe, something Strange can't really do himself.
With all these factors, there was no denying that Strange had no chance to stand against Fate.

To be fair, they do state that Strange had quite a few win cons, which probably would disqualify it.
Though, speaking of, this isn't cleanup and more a question - am I allowed to add to the quotes section a section for the lyrics of the various original tracks?
Unless the host and/or animation clearly indicated it's a stomp, it's not a stomp despite looking like one from the stats.
I mean, quotes from the combatants can already be used for troping material so lyrics are also allowed.
"I just need one of you to come here to give your life to the sun god. It will be for the monkey city's glory."Ok. If that's the case, so be it.
Mari0Boss removed them months ago because it made the page too long, although your new folders format doesn't have the issue. Personally, I'm more concerned about the copyright issue of posting full lyrics (brief quotes of them should be fine), since I'm pretty sure they are copyrighted.
"Your father was an average fighter, Kal-El, but he was a brilliant scientist!"The MGR page has the lyrics to all those songs, so...
That doesn't mean it's okay. The song lyrics on Quotes.Metal Gear Rising Revengeance should be removed too. We're a trope site, not a lyrics site.
I remember that in the past, Quotes.Mortal Kombat X literally contained the game's entire script in various subpages before it got massively cut down.
Alriiiight Ant Man vs the Atom
This is a tricky one but I'm leaning towards not a stomp?
It's not, no. They're stated to be close in stats and in arsenals, just Hank's got a better arsenal overall.
Yeah, that one is definitely not a stomp, the way it's described.
Just need to confirm.
Is Akuma vs Shao Kahn a stomp in Shao's favor? If no, then saying Akuma had a Curb Stomp Cushion wouldn't make sense.
"I just need one of you to come here to give your life to the sun god. It will be for the monkey city's glory."Can we add a Fandom Rivalry entry for Death Battle compared to the rest of ScrewAttack? Death Battle caused a large Newbie Boom for the You Tube Channel but overall lead to resentment by Screwattack fans as it slowly became a priority and dominating force by the company. When Screwattack discontinued all non-Death Battle content in 2016 a large amount of fans chose to unsubscribe from the channel (including me for a few years)

I don't see a problem with the Fandom Rivalry but I also do not know much about the rules here.
Akuma vs Shao Khan does seem rather stompy, do we not have an entry for it?

No entry for Akuma vs Shao Kahn

So, when everyone else finds out, do we think putting the characters from the next time for Dragonborn vs. Chosen Undead would fit? I'm pretty sure no one expected Misaka of all people to be Killua's opponent.
Killua vs Misaka?
Yep, that's the next one. Misaka from A Certain Scientific Railgun, to be specific.
Also, would this episode count as a curbstomp?
Edited by ultimate_life_form on Jun 5th 2023 at 10:45:12 AM
I agree that Dragonborn VS The Chosen Undead is a stomp. The way they describe it, it doesn't matter how many times Dark Soul Dude dies and comes back to life, the difference in power is so massive that they would never be able to win before turning Hollow.
However, I don't understand why Killua VS Mikasa would count as Unexpected Character. Both Hunter × Hunter and A Certain Scientific Railgun are popular series, and even if the exact matchup may not have been the most popular for either of them, it still seems to make at least a bit of sense on a surface level and neither character is independently unexpected.
I threw them all onto the Cut List.
