Remember how Tom Hardy had a cameo in The Last Jedi, but it got cut?

This is that scene.

It's an Uncomfortable Elevator Moment during Finn, Rose, TJ, and BB-8's infiltration into the First Order. After narrowly avoiding being in the same elevator with a superior officer, our heroes get stuck with a bunch of Stormtroopers. One of the Stormtroopers, 926 (Tom Hardy), recognizes Finn. Tensions rise because it looks like 926 will rat out Finn and Co. TJ is ready to shoot first, but it turns out that Stormtroopers are not permitted to exchange in short talk with commanding officers. He even smacks Finn in his tucus!

EDIT: Aaaaand it's already known about. Drat. sad

[up] Yeah, sorry. I just found it on Twitter today and I thought it'd be fun to share.

Sorry. sad

Though Disney blocked it on YouTube, so...

Question: In Legends and current EU, did the public as a whole ever learn the Clone Wars was a False Flag Operation perpetrated by Palpatine? If so, how and when?

Presumably only after the fall of the Empire, if ever.

I don't think it was ever expressly stated so. Obviously Obi-Wan and Yoda knew, presumably they told the likes of Luke who would have told Leia etc etc. Plus other parties such as Bail or Ahsoka probably worked it out themselves if they weren't told, and there's probably SW conspiracy theorists and intelligence agencies who stumbled across the idea.

But in terms of it being a well known factual thing across the GFFA in general, I don't think so.

Yeah, there was an episode of Rebels where Ezra himself gets Rex, Kanan and an old Droid General to actually sit down and think about who really won the clone wars, and they all realize that ultimately, it was the Emperor and the Empire who won.

Rex likely realized the truth, considering he was put under order 66 for short period of time, and likely shared that information with the others, but the truth of the Clone wars likely isn't very far spread.

[up] And even with that realization, the tone was more "Palpatine used the chaos to play us all for fools" than "Palpatine was the mastermind behind the entire thing," which tbh is a more plausible explanation. Truth is stranger than fiction and all that XD

There is some ambiguity on how directly in control Palpatine was of both sides. It seems more like he poked and prodded all the right spots to get things in motion, so it became more guiding all these factions into what they thought was their own decisions. The idea that there was some deceptive manipulation and taking advantage of the war is natural, how deep the control really was is likely to be debated.

He was more or less running the Separatists. The leaders directly answered to him in his Darth Sidious guise.

It's probable he was more hands off with the Seperatist than with the Republic since Sideous wasn't officially part of the CIS command structure, but they definitely took their marching orders from him whenever he contacted Dooku or the Council directly.

He set up Dooku as a separatist leader while he got to be the Chancellor of the Republic, and used that position to keep prolonging and escalating the conflict to get more power. He was playing a one-man game of chess the whole time, and everyone was ignorant until it was basically too late.

Did the Separatist leaders know the Sith Lord they were dealing with was also a Republic Senator/Chancellor?

They didn't, otherwise Grievous would've been far more informed that he wasn't actually capturing Palpatine or why he wasn't allowed to kill him or escape with him aboard.

Something often forgotten is that The Sheev never actually intended the Seps to win; they were a manufactured "perfect enemy" created to make his increasing power-grabs look justified. IIRC there was even a source that stated he'd arranged for Grievous to have an "accident" had he survived the War, but I can't remember what it was right now.

The separatist leaders were always gonna met with a violent end... since Palpy was basically a button call away from OH my personal commandos I've found the lair of the Sep council.

or Palpy would have gone and killed them himself

Really that anecdote about what happened when someone put up the rhetorical question of what they'd like L Ucas to put in a Star Wars movie just shows what a bad idea The Rise of Skywalker was even further.

So still going through Clone Wars.

... really finding the Ondoron resistance arc pretty dull. I'm usually all for guerilla warfare and all but I'm just... bored. Also I somehow completely forget Lux between each appearance.

The only real "enjoyment" I've gotten from the arc is the incredible Harsher in Hindsight about the episodes where the "freedom fighters" are working to "liberate" a city named Iziz. That was a real yikers.

... aaaaaaaaand now another four-episode arc focused on Younglings. Even giving me more Hondo is trying me and I'm kinda getting why the show was cancelled this season.

The show was cancelled because it was outrageously expensive to make and only got as far as it did because George Lucas was more than happy to funnel a obscene amount of money to it for artistic reasons. Season 5 was very well-received in both audience and critically.

Show was more cancelled simply because of the bill that Disney had no inclination to foot. Rebels and Resistance in the Disney era are noticeably much much cheaper, and the forthcoming The Bad Batch show is likely to be the same.

Its because of the animation style and larger number of action scences that are animated. It increases the budget to the level it became too expensive to contiue. Though hey we got our ending eventually.

[up][up] I know, I'm kidding. The Ondaron arc in particular is objectively good it just bored me for some reason.

Can't necessarily say the same for this youngling arc.
