[up][up] I have never heard of that controversy at all anyway, although admittedly I did not even know they were doing a Chicken Run sequel.

I'm not sure about The Last Of Us Part II. Politics definitely played a lot in it, although from experience I couldn't find anyone from either side who enjoyed it, so listing that might be controversial. As for the game itself, I feel its more known for being an extremely divisive game, and that the Troubled Production and issues surrounding Ellie(?) probably would be more known to people familiar with the exact details of the backlash.

I'm pretty sure it's almost six months since the release of Cuties, and I haven't heard much of it or remember it besides the controversy. Would this be applicable and neutral enough to add in a few days?

  • Cuties (known as Mignonnes in its native France) didn't receive much attention when it was first shown at the Sundance Film Festival in early 2020. However, an international release by Netflix in September of that year provoked significant outrage due to the film's advertising. Particularly, a poster showing the underage cast in skimpy dance clothing. The advertising immediately got Netflix criticized for shooting the movie's message against child exploitation at best, and for promoting pedophilia at worst, with some American and Turkish politicians asking for Netflix to be investigated.

[up] The notes on the page have it officially blacklisted until March 9th, but the controversy technically started more than six months ago, as it began in late August when the advertising was released (hence why there's a conflicting note saying to wait until late February, which I added to the page before the mod note blacklisting multiple items was added). But I think the rule is "wait until whichever comes later." Either way, it's pretty safe to say the movie's not going to escape its reputation anytime soon.

Regardless, we can't technically know whether it's an example until the six months have passed. We're only a week away from the latter date.

I think that these are likely candidates for OBC when the time comes to add them.

  • Gov. Andrew Cuomo
  • The Bachelor Season 25 and/or Chris Harrison
  • Dr. Seuss and/or six of his books that his estate has pulled from circulation due to racist imagery.

[up] We'll keep an eye on them, but just remember we aren't here to speculate, we're here to clean up this trope, its subpages, and its wicks. I agree that we will probably end up adding one or more of those when the time comes (Cuomo in particular seems screwed, and I know because I live in the state he is the governor of,) but right now, we should focus on cleaning up what is already on this page/gets added illegitimately.

We should, in fact, try to avoid speculating and adding things as soon as the six months are up just because they were controversial once. (Seconding that Cuomo seems screwed though, and the Seuss books seem proven by the fact they're not Banned Episodes. Not sure about The Bachelor.)

This is on Kamp Koral (keep in mind the show was just released):

Overshadowed by Controversy: Oy. When it was announced, fans accused Nickelodeon of taking advantage of Stephen Hillenburg’s death, as Hillenburg stated in an interview that he did not see any spin-offs happening which, combined with tweets made by former showrunner Paul Tibbitt, was taken as him not wanting any spin-offs, period. Only a few days before its premiere did Vincent Waller and Tom Kenny confirm that Hillenburg knew about its existence.

[up]Cut for being far too early. We'll see if the controversy still persists even after it becomes well known that Hillenburg knew about the spinoff.

[up][up] That sounds like yet another fake controversy from the "cartoon community". Oh, and of course too early like the above post said. Cut.

On Kamp Koral, it might still qualify given how huge the backlash was, and the announcement of it was more than six months ago, though obviously now that it's only just now released it would probably be best to give it a little more time.

Beyond that, I have yet to see anyone say anything period about the show itself, good or bad.

One cleanup thread later...

Kamp Koral is definitely controversial. Many see the show's very existence as an attack on Hillenburg's memory. Whether or not that "overshadows" the rest of the show remains to be seen.

Alright, the show is indeed controversial. I rescind that claim. If it's controversial outside the "cartoon community" it can stay when 6 months have passed.

(I'd also like to make a side note that when I say "cartoon community" I am not referring to the entire animation community as a whole. "Cartoon community" in my mind refers to a specific subsection of the community that have a habit of being very negative, complain-y, and resistant to changes in cartoons they enjoy. I am not trying to insult all those who are into animation.)

[up][up] You know, we really need a more descriptive term for those people than "cartoon community".

[up] We do. I can't think of anything better than what I said though.

Probably shouldn't have written that, I just wanted to clarify that I don't look down on those who are into animation. Hell I was into animation at one point, and I still follow some animation YouTubers even today.

I was mainly talking about a certain type of people that I see a lot on this wiki and sometimes elsewhere, who loudly complain a lot about certain cartoons. The kind of people who add negative entries and complaining to cartoons that have been reviewed by certain controversial online reviewers.

I hope I'm not too nasty right now. I'm very tired, I should probably stop typing comments.

"Cartoon community" in my head refers to people who treat Mr. Enter as Reviews Are the Gospel. But I don't think many other adults would care about Kamp Koral to begin with, so if there's controversy within the very passionate Periphery Demographic, I think it could count. However, we have to let them actually learn the truth about the production and then watch the damn show before we can declare that it's OBC.

[down] I make a point to mention his name because I hate him.note  But that's besides the point.

There's a very detailed, commented-out entry on the Web Original page detailing That Vegan Teacher (whose controversies aren't 6 months old yet I think). While my initial concern was if it read like a List of Transgressions (having a second paragraph added after she used the N word in March), I'm starting to wonder if she's fit to belong on the page - Was she known prior to the "vegan dog" situation, or is she a case of controversial for being controversial? (Which would include people like DarkSydePhil, Ann Coulter or Katie Hopkins)

I do remember her getting into another conflict with an equally infamous Tik Tok teacher as well as with a MCYT-er, but my memory's fuzzy.
