And it's not really illustrative to boot...I'd be fine with pulling it.
Yep, pull it.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThe obvious one.
Spiral out, keep going.Pull current.
(Annoyed grunt)Question: At what point does an image become "meme-based" and unusable for our purposes?
Already on Cats & Dogs.
Pull current.
It's not an Image Macro, so Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
Keet cleanupThis one's kinda borderline, in that the pic is the source of a meme but isn't an image macro in and of itself. I'm just not feeling it as the page pic.

Images like the ones on My Greatest Failure and Didn't Think This Through are also the source of memes, so I don't think that's a problem.
Keet cleanupI think 4 is more illustrative than current.
4 is already on Cats & Dogs. I don't see how the current isn't illustrative: it shows a cat and dog as enemies.
Keet cleanupI'm fine with keeping current tbh.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?According to the rules here meme pictures are not allowed, which I why I used that as a reason to pull the image. I personally also think the image is low quality.
As for a replacement, maybe something from The Lion King or Bolt?
My question was about the definition of "meme-based". Is any occurrence on the internet enough. How do we measure the popularity of an image macro?
There are other questionable examples on our site, so a guideline for future discussions would be appreciated.
I think the term 'meme-based' was from a time when most memes on the internet were in the vein of demotivational posters/trollfaces/Cheezburger lolcats/those low-quality insertable-text-macros ala Scumbag Steve (those are still a hard no). I'm personally more inclined to give memes now (funny, somewhat relatable images) a pass so long as they're illustrative.
Regardless, I said 4 was more illustrative than current since it's got more dogs and cats lined up in an obviously conflicting pose; didn't know it was already on the work page. Current is actually a Keep Until Better Image Suggested case but I think we can do better.

Wouldn't Cats & Dogs fit better under Cat/Dog Dichotomy? I was under the impression that was a dog and cat centric sub-trope to Animal Jingoism.
I think that is more about pitting cats and dogs as opposites, while Animal Jingoism covers their supposed rivalry.
Replacement suggestion for Animal Jingoism: Tom and Jerry?
^ Needs a second image to complete the "mutual hatred" aspect.
The quality is somewhat shoddy:
Spiral out, keep going.Clock is set.
The clock's up, and if I'm looking at the votes right, we're pretty much stalemated on whether or not to pull the current. Locking up.
The current image is a Meme based picture.
