We've just pushed a large overhaul public. Please report complaints, comments and concerns here. When reporting bugs, please make sure you include which browser(s) and platform(s) you have encountered the issue with.
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
- Why did we do this? This update has been in development for over a year. It replaces a vast amount of messy code on the back-end, gives us a new modernized design, updates us to https, and creates a platform that we can more easily build on for future updates.
- Can we go back to the old design? This isn't happening. We'll make the new one work.
- Why are there so many bugs? As with any major overhaul, some problems will occur. The developers are working full-time on fixing stuff.

@lakingsif - I've noticed that flashing. I've also NOT noticed it when I happen to blink at the wrong time. Design-wise, it's not what I'd call a great solution. Nor is a shade of grey for unread that you need a spectrographic analysis to distinguish from the other shade of grey that means read.
Now, green checkmarks on all unread threads, like the Followed Threads page has? Great solution!
Yeah that's a good idea!
I really appreciate everything you've done and fixed so far, and it's quite easy to distinguish when you have a block of unread pages, but when you start reading a few of them and update the page, it gets really quite hard to see which is read and not.
There's a forum glitch (?) where not all threads are marked as read no matter how many times you click on them, while others are.
So am I correct in believing that the broken display toggles for IE are never going to be fixed?
I brought up earlier how on the discussion pages links to forums up end being broken due to the URL getting screwed up. It's still happening, but I've also noticed some other issues.
For one, apostrophes will be turned into slashes after hitting save. It's properly formatted when I got to edit it, but it's still messed up even if I type it out again. Which leads to the large issue in that I can't actually edit my replies. I've been trying to add a word I omitted from a sentence, but it just won't save.
Here are some links to the Discussion pages I recently posted in to demonstrate the issues I'm having.

Just in case: I'm unable to change my vote on a crowner page. It gives the prompt, but then loads to a blank page. Is that a known issue?

~Pushover Media Critic (this post): That has been a problem since before the 1.8 version. Several years, in fact.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I believe it is...crowners are just about useless in general right now.
Sometimes, on forum threads, avatars show up as blank unless you reload the page.
Do we know why this update was so buggy?
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project! It had a very small and exclusive closed beta.
And then due to outside pressure (mostly Google pushing websites to adopt HTTPS), it was released before it was completely ready.
The flashing for unread wiki pages in Following also isn't as clear in Night Vision.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite. So once again, Google is to blame for drastic changes on Tv Tropes.
Optimism is a duty. So, Today's Featured Trope used to change several times a day. Now it's doing the opposite. It's been the same one for several days? Like, at least since the beginning of the weekend.
We moderators manually add tropes to the list. I'll pop a few more into the queue today.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Glitch on android: the sticky header scrolls a bit upward when you scroll down in the forums, making about half the header disappear off the screen. This doesn't seem to be an issue in threads themselves but in the page that lists the different forums.
Not a glitch but a question: How should we format or change pages where folders and such are above the example list? I just found ComicBook.Miracle Man and the page almost looks like a stub at first because the description is contained in a folder pushed down the page by the image.
Though the paragraph spacing in the folder is messed up, so that's a glitch to (re-)report.

Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyCharacters/TNA is locked. So yeah, that's still a thing.
Why the heck was that opening section on the Miracleman page hidden in a folder? Just got rid of that (the header was superfluous too).
I've seen this before occasionally but not sure this has been reported: escape characters and broken links in forum posts. Seen in my post here but also elsewhere, not sure why this sometimes happens.
Apostrophes are prefaced by a backslash '/, and links (to TV tropes pages anyway) have https://tvtropes.org/' and '/ appended the left and right sides of the URL, breaking the link.
Latest Firefox on OS X El Capitan.
Edit: Unlike the Discussion page bug, I was able to fix this with a null edit.

"It's just a show; I should really just relax"I have the exact same problem with the liveblogs. I put in a link, but the site puts https://tvtropes.org/' in front of every link, making them all useless. I've tried Null edits, but they do nothing. Also, for some reason the site also automatically puts backslashes right next to every ' and ".

The HTTPS bug also appears in discussion posts.
I can't edit discussion posts. I accidentally replied to a discussion on this page (bottom/oldest thread) and have tried to edit my reply several times, but the edit doesn't save. If I blank the post, it takes me to a page saying
Back to the liveblogs for a sec, External Links don't work. At all. For example, on this page every single link has https://tvtropes.org/' before the web address, thus, instead of taking you to the correct page, it takes you to a 404 error page every single time.
