The great old ones, after countless aeons, finally awoke and emerged from the sea to wreak havoc on humanity. Of course, they failed, 'cos humanity had already wrought havoc upon themselves. So they just killed some world leaders and summoned their servants to ensure continued havoc on earth while they went back to sleep and felt sorry for themselves for wasting so much time. Meanwhile, not much has changed. We've got some cool new tech, we're aware of the great old ones, and we've got a bunch of new tentacled critters running around, but the world was already screwed up and insane, so I guess it means we eat more seafood now? Sure, we now have Mega Corps, but the old national governments violated just as many human rights as the corps do, and we all know too much sanity-shredding stuff to care anymore.

Stupid Cyberpunk Cultists is sort of like Shadowrun, only replace all the fantasy elements with Cthulhu Mythos elements, make the protagonists psychotic religious fanatics (think less ignorant Bible-basher, more gibbering Necronomicon-chanter) who happen to all have used either Intelligence, Wisdom, or both intelligence AND wisdom as Dump Stats, and play it all for laughs.

In other words, it's Exactly What It Says on the Tin.

You can play pretty much anything so long as it isn't too powerful or too serious. Only Sane Men (and Women) will be automatically vetoed.

Random fun fact #1: Although Mods (Cybernetics) do not Eat Your Soul, they do Eat Your Sanity.

Random fun fact #2: Most stupid cyberpunk cultists are not affected by Mods eating their sanity, because they're already completely and irredeemably insane.

CHARACTER CREATION SHEET

  • Name: Self-explanatory.
  • Race: Human is default, but you can select anything Lovecraftian that isn't too overpowered (a Deep One or a Deep One Hybrid would make a good race for your character).
  • Age: Again, self-explanatory.
  • Appearance: Does your character look as crazy as they act or are are they a deceptively normal-looking human being? Descriptions are necessary either way.
  • Personality: We know your character is absolutely nuts, but how are they nuts? That is the question.
  • Abilities: Things you can do, both natural skills and supernatural abilities. Only list the important or really weird stuff.
  • Mods: List any Cybernetic, Biological, or Magical modifications your character has.
  • Stuff: Your character's gear.
  • (OPTIONAL) Backstory: Your character's (probably as utterly insane as they are) life story.
  • Miscellaneous: Miscellaneous/Other important stuff.

Name: Ulysses 'Lissy' Zwan.

  • Race: Human.

  • Age: 24.

  • Appearance:

    • He's actually a pretty sane looking character, at least at first. On the other hand, he's also obviously modded in all three ways. Besides that, he has ratty brown hair dyed pink, one eye dark green and the other a silver cat's eye (a biological mod), and a face that's convincingly face-like. He is surprisingly tan. He is scarred with magic runes, scarring done personally, and they allow him to perform certain spell, though it does draw from his life energy, so he can't use them too often.

    • His clothing is what some would call 'stylish' in its own way. He wears a small cape that goes over one shoulder, light yellow in color. His shirt is tan, with long sleeves, of which he usually had the left one pulled down and the right rolled up, or vice versa. His pants are black and leather, usually worn with a large belt and tan leather boots. Sometimes he wears fingerless gloves, but not when he thinks he'll need to use the runes on his hands.

  • Personality:

    • Lissy is what you would call a Bunny-Ears Lawyer, very good at what he does specifically, when told to do it in a very precise manner. Without his skill he wouldn't be able to afford his clothes. Besides that, he's pretty much useless. Or, as some call it, 'eccentric'. He babbles about things he claims to have seen, such as the lost city of Carcosa, or things he's done, such as 'rested wholly beneath the graves of the dead and talked with the worms'.  Sometimes he runs on Insane Troll Logic, making impressive leaps in thinking when he really shouldn't be. The stuff he talks about tend to be almost psychedelic sounding in nature, such as 'towering bones of an old god, covered in the sins of humanity, bursting forth with the darkness of a joyful future'. Other fun tidbits are 'the lights of Carcosa come back to us to envelope our minds and bring us into the fold' and 'the sheep, they know something we don't'.

    • He's always very laid back, very hard to get angry. At most he'll get mildly irritated. Even in situations where he should really be running, he probably won't go unless dragged out. Very, very loyal to his 'friends', who, in most cases, don't even know they're friends with him. He's also fanatically loyal to Hastur, his patron. He happens to abhor violence, but doesn't mind blood and will get messy if he has to. Despite his skill in certain areas, he's almost completely useless otherwise and barely capable of even living on his own.

  • Abilities:
    • Fireball Rune - On his left hand. It shoots fire.
    • Scrying Rune - Below his left eye (the regular one). It allows him to see everything within ten feet around him when activated, including through walls.
    • Barrier Rune - On his right hand. Creates a small shield the size of a frying pan. Doesn't last long before it burns out.
    • Silence Runes - On the bottom of his boots, to allow for silent movement.

  • Mods:

    • Cybernetic Legs - For things like walking, jumping, and kicking. They're civilian model, so not too strong. They are obviously cybernetic, not even making an attempt to look human. Good for lifting things, too.

    • Cat's Eye - Allows him to see better in the dark and gives him a slightly wider peripheral vision. To be honest, it's mostly for shock factor, not function.

    • Runes - All the Runes mentioned above. He did the scarring himself, so no one better think of cutting them off or anything.

  • Stuff:
    • Gun - A gun. He has no idea what type it is, except that it appears to be a pistol. He has no idea if it's loaded or not. He has no idea where he got it. He certainly doesn't fire it himself. Hell, he doesn't even know what a safety switch is. Basically, it's there for looks.

    • Phone - Used for a variety of things. Mostly he uses it for writing things down to remember later and keeping in contact with other culty friends.

    • Yellow Sign - A scrap of wood with the Yellow Sign. Basically a cult ID, though it is vaguely detrimental to mental health to see it.

  • (OPTIONAL) Backstory:

    • Ulysses 'Lissy' Zwan was born to an Emily and Grant Zwan. He was a normal child, except for his severe depression. He went for many years with this, just, you know, being depressed, when around the age of 17 he felt the sensation of being offered.... more. A sense of belonging, a sense of being part of something greater. A sense of being appreciated. This was Hastur, calling to his mind, calling him to become one of his servants.

    • Ulysses left his home and walked for hours, no, days tirelessly, until, supposedly, he reached the lost land of Carcosa, though some who know his past think that it was a mere hallucination brought on by sleep deprivation, and some even suspect Carcosa is far beneath the sea or on a different world, only reachable on foot by a portal. The point is, no one really knows. After a vague amount of time, where he supposedly fed himself and drank some water, he came back a changed person, almost entirely mentally gone but now serving a higher power. Since then he takes occasional jobs to pay for his expensive tastes and, of course, his apartment. Of course, how he even gets these jobs is a mystery, and he is really only effective when lead by a strong leader, which his fellow cult members are almost definitely not.

  • Miscellaneous:
    • Favorite food - mango or, failing that, grilled cheese.
    • Favorite drink - chocolate milk.

[up] Accepted. You might want to add a few more abilities, though. Probably, since you're going more for the cultist angle and less for the cyberpunk angle, more runes.

Also, you might want a fake ID or two, y''know, so you can actually spend the money you make instead of it just floating around in cyberspace for all eternity...

Umm... so, I was here, I guess. If I wasn't, someone hacked my account. So, yeah.
