So, after being mostly underwhelmed by season 1, I just checked the first ep of season 2 and WOW I'm truly impressed! It's actually really dark and quite interesting. I feel that this finally graduated from being watered down, medieval Rick and Morty and into something fascinating.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Ya know I'm not sure if I like this show or not but I guess I do more like it than not like it since I do want to see it continue
Finding out this show shares writers from Gravity Falls: sweet.
Finding out that Alex Hirsch had some kind of breakdown after season 1: not sweet at all...
Bump.
Destiny calls, but disaster awaits.
Disenchantment Part 3 drops on January 15, 2021!
Looks like the story could be interesting. The steampunk land will apparently play a big role. But the humor still seems pretty uneven. Overly Long Gags, explaining the jokes, and the humor sometimes feeling a little old fashioned.

@dRoy: "Medieval Rick and Morty"? And I thought everyone was calling this show "Fantasy Futurama".
The story does seem to be progressing naturally from all the development in the last two seasons, Bean seems to be developing magical powers and while Dreamland appears to be a low-rent kingdom it is sitting on powerful real estate.
Best line though:
- I need to drink about this.
- Did you say...
- I know what I said.
To be fair, Rick and Morty and Futurama have many similarities, both being sci-fi comedies with a cynical tone and some Vulgar Humor. The main difference is that Rick and Morty's cynicism and vulgarity are turned Up To Eleven.
Well Part 3 is out now and I just finished episode 6 which hit waaayyy too fucking close to home and now I’m an emotionally drained wreck in need of a break before I watch the rest
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyNot fond of the long "self rant" Bean had with herself in the mermaid episode. It was so drawn out.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Another season wasted on filler with the main plot only getting addressed in the last few episodes.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! You know, I think this show might have worked out better as an episodic comedy like Groening's other two shows. The serialized storytelling seems to have no clear direction, and is sustaining itself on new subplots and plot twists to keep itself going.
Meanwhile, many other cartoons that actually went somewhere with their serialized plots didn't get the generous amount of episodes this series did.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Yeah, why didn't they go with Futurama but Medieval Fantasy?
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Pretty sure that this might be my favorite Netflix original animated series. Then again, I haven't watched a lot of them. I keep meaning to try Kipo/Glitch/others, but I get distracted easily.
Ah right, part 3 is up, should watch that. Actually I should probably just binge all three parts, especially since I don't remember part 2 as well. I'd only watched through part 2 once and I was going through some emotional stuff at the time so I was kinda distracted. (I do remember really liking the last half of part 1, though...)
Stupid doomed timeline...Be prepared for a wild ride.
........Is Bean a Cambion?
Sanity is the Lie, there is only Madness. What was up with this latest season. It went from plot to plot like an old serial without explaining why Bean was getting involved, and it just kept piling on conspiracies like that was good writing.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.I think this show needed some younger writers. The writers of the Simpsons and Futurama didn't really have prior experience writing serialized shows. They did try, but its obvious there were problems. The humor can also seem rather dated at times, like referencing fifty year old movies like Jaws.
I also think it's a good idea to bring in a few new writers. When veterans like Craig Mc Cracken or Nicole Dubuc make more than one show, some writers may carry over, but they'll also bring in new writers to bring a new perspective. This should have happened here also.

In case anyone still cares, part 4 is coming in a few weeks: https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/netflix-disenchantment-part-4-first-look/

I certainly still care.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.tbqh the show probably would have fared better if it was Futurama-but-Fantasy, at least that seems to be the forte of the writers. Are they still around?
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.
Technically, the entire Maru "arc" was a mid-season episode, since Netflix is doing the Little Witch Academia thing where it splits a single season in two and releases them months apart.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
