We're coming into the final stretch, so the end of this arc is in sight.

Only took an entire year.

Sounds like the Zeti and/or Starline will escape and Eggman will go back on his word.

So kinda back to basics XD

I guess it's down to Sonic & Silver for the final battle

Makes sense.

Sonic started all this, Silver is fighting to save the future, and they are the only ones left who can fight the Zombots without being infected. Silver because his TK means he doesn't ned to touch them, and Sonic due to his infection.

It's gonna be interesting to see how the Zeti deal with Sonic; they can't touch him themselves, but they could possibly have an affect on him due to the virus.

Makes sense, since we saw via Silver that the Metal Virus engulfed the entire planet and disintegrated everyone in the future. Thus, Silver's direct intervention is required to prevent that future from coming to pass

I hope so, I always thought Flynn's greatest strenght was his comedy. It is always amusing.

That’s a good question honestly.

How the virus would interact with the Six is something we don’t really know considering their powers.

Edit: They also need a plan for if Sonic succumbs to the virus while on the island. I know the previews show he and Silver will be two of the last fighters standing, but pragmatically speaking, how to handle a zombot Sonic needs to be on the table.

Ian is still apparently receiving a lot of orders about how to write Shadow specifically. He's got an idea for how to handle him in the aftermath of the Metal Saga and how to approach what Shadow did during that time, but he's not sure if Sega will give the ok for it.

Not sure how things are gonna go for our favourite Ultimate Lifeform from here on in.

Someone at Sega has a vision on the direction the series should go, and they're trying to dictate how Shadow's character fits in that vision since he's basically a byproduct of an era that's generally considered "unpopular".

Shadow's serious and dour personality with his tragic backstory doesn't fit with the current lighthearted and zany atmosphere the series has adopted since 2010, so his character was modified to "fall in line" so to speak.

That's why Flynn is getting such pushback, because someone at Sega is probably aware of how complex of a character Shadow is and they're trying to cut back on that so that he's a simpler and less nuanced character so that he fits in the vision of the series they're trying to push.

Makes me think back to the argument on the main thread about how the series has gone too far on that Denser and Wackier path since Sonic Colours.

Kinda funny really: Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06 are probably the two least popular games in the franchise, and they dialled up the Darker and Edgier nature of the series to it's extreme (though Sonic 06 has a lot of other issues beyond it's tone that ruined it).

But the former completed Shadow's character arc, and leads into his story in the latter, where I always got the assumption Shadow was written at his absolute best apparently bar his introduction in SA2.

In the case of 06, it feels like Sega is trying so hard to forget it, they are (outside of Silver, who was lucky to survive that purge and find a place in the fandom) throwing out what little good there was in the game. Poor Shadow is a victim of that.

In other words, they are trying too hard to go in the opposite direction now, and that's gonna be an issue going forward. Sonic, ever since Adventure has arguably been both a little silly and a little serious. Sega needs to embrace that properly instead of tipping the series so far in one direction that it goes over the edge.

Yea, that is ironic Rob. Sega has a terrible habit of taking ideas that failed and just scrapping them altogether.

So because 06 was such a monumental failure, everything from 06 was thrown out regardless of its actual quality.

Yeah. I mean, that's the reason they aren't using Big as much (he got a lot of flak so they flat out semi-retired him), resulting in him not showing up in many games since then until Team Sonic Racing recently.

To say nothing of cancelling any series the moment it starts doing bad. The Sonic Riders series had a bad one in Zero Gravity (I think) and now it's disappeared, and poor Blaze hasn't been able to go Burning Blaze at all since Sonic Rush Adventure (though at least she's still showing up; Marine is never gonna see the light of day again).

I also still stand by my opinion that Silver (as good as he is now) shouldn't have been in 06. In fact, Blaze should have taken both his and Elise's roles (with 99% less kidnapping in the case of the latter):

She's got fire power: Iblis is a fire demon. She's burdened by a heavy duty and is a princess just like Elise...who Iblis is sealed within.

And we saw her need to open up in Rush, but now they can add the extra burden of having to keep Iblis sealed. Hell they can even say it was put within her because of her own inherent fire abilities (which is why she used herself as the seal in the finale of Silver's story).

And of course, that would mean she'd join in on the final battle and help Solaris get rekt.

Super Sonic, Super Shadow and Burning Blaze kicking ass and taking names bitch.

...Sega needs to go back to 06, fix it properly and give us the game it was meant to be.

Not only is everyone playing/speculating on a session of Sonic Shuffle (with Dreamcast controllers and everything), but there's such a lot of small details, like how Knuckles' cap reading "Ouch Potato", how Big is apparently the best player, and Eggman is hiding behind Tails' beanbag chair.

Sonic Shuffle is legitimately one of my favorite Sonic games. Now I'm hoping for IDW Lumina, Illumina, and Void!

My theory is that Sonic and Shadow are so busy trying to outdo each other that Big is taking it by default. He's genuinely good, but the hogs are doing half the work for him.

I find it interesting that Zeena doesn't seem able to take control of Gemerl. And Cream looks like she's gearing up to shank someone.

Oh right. I completely forgot to comment on that. The fact they're even doing a Brawler Lock should indicate she hasn't jacked him yet.

I admit, I was wondering if they'd be able to control Gemerl. He's not an Eggman bot, so he might just be made of stuff they can't sink their proverbial teeth into. That's gonna be useful. A robot they can't control will catch them off guard.

More details I noticed on Cover B:

• Rouge has a book on cheat codes.
• Omega's holding a little flag with the red emblem from the Shadow the Hedgehog game's logo.
• Cheese and Chocola are holding an upside-down "YAY" sign.
• Vanilla's mug reads "Game Grrrl".
• In the leaderboard, while Big is 1st place and Sonic and Shadow are fighting over 2nd place, Jet is dead last.
