> So you mean Magica effectively transferred her powers to Lena, and then was severed from her without getting them back? That could work.
Bingo, the downside is that Lena is tied to Magica,if they decided to kill Magica (they won't) there's a fairly decent chance it could effect her too
New theme music also a boxIs she still tied to Magica, though? I thought that link was broken.
I know it seemed like Magica and Lena had a magical link, here, but it could just as easily just be Magica playing mind games.
Optimism is a duty.Something like a magical link is never truly severed, just disconnected untill Magica works how to bind her again
New theme music also a boxThough still, he (BOYD) does at least have the niceness that 1987 Doofus has.
I wondered if maybe Boyd was essentially Doofus's good qualities given to a different character when I watched the episode with my sister.
I like Boyd. I hope to see more of him (and, as was mentioned, Boyd's interactions with Doofus).
I don't think Boyd has enough going on for him to be said to have Doofus' old character traits. What traits do Old Doofus and Boyd have in common beyond "they are nice kids"?
Optimism is a duty.Imagine if 2017 Doofus got his hands on an alien artifact that made him superhuman.
I'm one of those people who looks too far into things a lot of the time.
At this point, Boyd is just a very nice robot, but anything can happen. I mean, we already have a living shadow with more humanity than it's creator, so why not a sentient robot with more humanity than it's living brother?
Optimism is a duty.Lena has magic powers cause the remains of Magica's amulet/staff are in her.

Yeah, but that's not what this episode is suggesting. This episode suggests that Lena somehow gained Magica's innate magical power, not just the magic from one of her artefacts.
The implication seems to be that Magica isn't able to use any magic at all now. Hence why she had to resort to technology, rather than another magical object.
Optimism is a duty.Didn't she always use Magica's amulet/staff to do so, however?
I thought the implication was that she simply didnt have her amulet anymore. Without the amulet or the dime, she has nothing to draw power from.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireYeah, but this episode seems to suggest that Magica lost something innate to her that allowed her to use that amulet/staff in the first place. And that that something has been transferred to Lena. Hence why Magica is so desperate to get that something back.
Why else would she resort to technology, instead of just another magical trinket?

Optimism is a duty.Lena IS Magica's shadow embodied. It might be the case that Lena's creation had some unforeseen side-effect on her creator that Magica didn't realize until it was too late.
Lena might even be something deeper than just Magica's shadow. Like Magica's "incomplete" now.
Also, I'll point out that Lena's design in concept art made her ties to Magica even more obvious (as in flat-out looking like a grumpy teen version of her). I say this is notable since it could serve as a reminder that Lena could be called something like Magica's Agahnim.

So if Magica wants her power she has to fight Lena in a game of magical tennis?

It's not entirely clear, but I think the implication is that Lena has to give her powers back to Magica willingly, hence the psychological manipulation.
Expect future Magica plots to revolve around Magica trying to manipulate Lena into doing just that.
Optimism is a duty.Speaking of Lena, browsing around /co/ had me see that an apparently decently notable idea there is having her interact with Donald in a wacky Intergenerational Friendship. I can kinda see it, considering their attitudes towards all that happens around them.
So the first episode of Ducktales I decided to watch with my mum was "The Shadow War: Part 1" She liked the episode. Then again, my mum watched Supernatural and Charmed a lot, so basically she liked Lena's transformation the most.

In an anime, I'll be the Tsundere Dark Magical Girl who likes purple MY own profile is actually HERE!Yeah, that sounds like the perfect episode. I bet your mom would like the Lena story arc in general.

I don't know if anybody else here has seen this, but Angones commented again on Zan Owlson's replacement. He confirmed it's not a new character, since it's someone we've seen before.

Antigones?
Optimism is a duty.Zan's replacement as the vice-president of Glomgold's company (which, I assume, he got back in "Moonvasion") or as the vice-president of Scrooge's company?
I wonder what they are planning to do with Daisy, since we know she's been confirmed?
I remember Frank saying that she was his daughter's favorite, so I'll be interested to see what they do with her.

I hope they flesh out Violet a bit more in future episodes, she was little more than an exposition machine in the last episode. Her dream would have been a nice way to explore her personality more, but it was a bit predictable instead, and didn't really leave much to work with.
