Ooh! A neat idea for a horror film! I can't wait to see how they make it suck by using tired old found footage cliches!

It's actually a fairly interesting perspective. A webcam can't really turn, so as long as the killer stays out of view we have no idea who's doing it. And it's not really found footage either, I think.
So are we going to make a page for this, or...?
I say we should.
So, Youtube has been flooded with ads for this movie, as is wont to happen. So far it's been the same old thing, but I just ran into an ad whose tagline made my jaw drop. To paraphrase:
"In 1999 there was The Blair Witch Project. In 2009 there was Paranormal Activity. In 2015, there will be Unfriended."
You have to have some serious balls to put yourself that high up before release. Especially since, compared to those two, the marketing has been nowhere near as strong.

It may do pretty well.
As long as they don't make the mistake of the first two series and make a sequel.
I mean, it seems to be getting positive preview reception, but there's too small a sample size right now. We'll need to wait until release to get a more accurate reaction.
I emphasize the marketing aspect because strong marketing is what both of those other movies had in common. The ad in question, however, seems to only be using them in the sense of "These are Found Footage Films that are popular". I wouldn't even be surprised if that was the case.
This looks like an interesting idea for a horror film, but every time the title pops up in advertisements I laugh. It unintentionally comes across as Mundane Made Awesome. I also don't see how "unfriending" is that relevant to the movie, especially since it looks like most of takes place on Skype, not Facebook. It seems like some executive decided on the title because they heard a social media-related buzzword that they fought was fitting without actually understanding what it means.
Summation of plot:
-Girl does stupid shit at party.
-People record her stupid shit at the party.
-Stupid shit posted online.
-People laugh at stupid shit.
-Girl says, "I'm too stupid for this world..." and commits suicide...while holding the gun stupid.
- Dolan Goes "siucid gurl pls, evrytin went bter than epecxted"
-Years later, her ghost comes back to kill everyone involved. Because revenge is a dish best served against those that aren't responsible for your actions (of doing stupid shit).
-Ghost goes and makes everyone hurt/kill themselves like Issac Clarke's ex gf.
-Eventually, it comes down to the last girl...
Then, one of these things will happen:
A. Ghost kills girl in the worst way possible, everything ends.
B. Ghost spares girl's life to teach her a lesson or something.
C. Comcast's shitty Internet goes out and the girl lives on.
D. The ghost girl reveals herself "Acculy is Dolan! tweanagrs pls..."

C sounds like a fucking hilarious ending.
"God dammn it. Every time I'm in the middle of my revenge scene. I hope the reboot doesn't take too long. Its going to take forever for me to build up again when I get back. I hope I don't have to call my Haunting Provider."
Chris Stuckmann reviews the whole thing thanks to early screenings.

As much as this looks Narmy and stupid, I gotta admit the glitchy effects kinda spooked me. But what really got me was the hand-in-blender scene. As stupid as it looks, it Squicked me the fuck out. Not seeing it.
?!?!?!?!Two things about this movie:
- Facebook...OF DOOM!
- Friendface! Friendface! FRIENDFACE! (The IT Crowd)

Famous last words of many a kerbal: MOAR BOOSTERS!!!I really do think we should have a page on this.
Once it comes out, that is.
Speaking of gruesome deaths and injuries like hands in blenders I remember seeing a snippet at the end of one trailer where apparently a guy was hit by a car?
I think it's fair to make a page about Unfriended. We've done so with other works before they came out. The problem is that the edit button for the Unfriended page isn't working.

Ah, okay.
I've made a page on the upcoming movie. You can edit it here.

I've uploaded the poster there, since I started all of this.
Let's watch the Tomatometer. Early reviews have been strong. Can it hold up in the coming days, and how will audiences respond to the Skype chat of death?
Still don't get why they don't call this "Cyber Bully". Hell, they could go with the Space Whale Aesop of "Don't bully people over the Internet or their ghost will kill you".
That title has been used already.

Oh yea, that stupid movie. Forgot it existed. God, this idea is so stupid.
Reviews are in.
"Unfriended subverts found-footage horror clichés to deliver a surprisingly scary entry in the teen slasher genre with a technological twist."
Maybe our original assumptions were a tad bit cynical.
DAT'S WHAT I BEEN HEARIN' ALL ALONGS!
Unfortunately thanks to the trailer, I have been hit by Confirmation Bias that the movie is shit, no matter what, so I can't see it... Or maaaaaaaaybe I will. With low expectations, I might enjoy it.
I just hope they don't start milking it and leave it at one well received film, I mean look at Paranormal Activity, a solid first film, the sequels added nothing.
If they milk it, then I can't wait for the sequel
Unfriended 2: Legend of Masturbinator: Hidden From Twitter: I know What You Did Last Summer Because You Liked It on Facebook: Revenge of Dolan
... That was a joke.

I liked it. I got the impression that the people behind the movie actually understood the internet and how skype conversations are never perfect streams with no interruptions from technical problems. The premise on paper sounds stupid (hell, it sounds like a lame creepypasta) but in execution I think it was done well.
I really don't think it's some shallow, insensitive attempt to grab young people by invoking Totally Radical or Ripped from the Headlines, at least that's not how I feel about it.
Unfortunately a lot of people were already burned by awful representations of how people use and behave on the internet in media, but I hope it becomes a financial success because I really liked the movie and how it told its story through a skype conversation.
I just hope this doesn't lead to copycats making movies based around things like Google+ or Steam chat conversations.
Anybody want space lobsters?
Everyone seems to be pointing out the Ken is the first to die, when, actually, they were only five at the time, which means someone else has died already.
To point it out, the first one to die in the group of six would probably be the redhead: Val.
Anyways, I'm just hoping the movie won't be too terrible, since my most recent Skype group video call focused on this trailer.
