Exact ages are usually pretty irrelevant, the only important ages are infant, toddler, adolescent, teenage, adult, middle aged, elderly. Tom Cruise is still trying to pull off mid 30's and largely succeeding, even though his actual age of "over 50" would normally make him middle aged and associated story points. Batman canonically shows up on the scene in his mid 20's and if Riddler is pushing 40 (assuming he is in his 20's in the show), it's not that big a deal because their relationship isn't defined by their age difference.
It becomes more relevant with Selena and Bruce, as they are never depicted as a May–December Romance. Same with Harley, as a big part of her backstory is being a young, naive intern who falls for the Joker, who in turn doesn't show up until after Batman.
I thought Harley was licensed.
(V)(;,,;)(V)Ok, I forgot Harley was considerably younger than Bruce. Yeah I take it back- that wouldn't work.
I still think a television series is the best way at continuing the universe. As much as I loved the Dark Knight (and relatively tolerated 1 and 3), I felt like a three hour movie weighed in for too long at points. A 45 minute television show seems much more appropriate at adapting so many of the stories, and the show wouldn't have to rush itself in fitting in character development or introducing new villains.
It reminds me of Agents Of Shield in that sense- take that as you will.

You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.I think the Forgone Conclusion is going to hurt this show even if it survives being on Fox.
Addition: Thought we had that page.

I agree. Everyone already knows what's going to happen in the future, so it might hurt this show if they don't find a way to create newer stories that would be different for the audience.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!They can just state outright that it's an elseworld. The only question is if they have more balls than Smallville's showrunners did when they tried the same thing and failed.
Also if it gets cancelled on Fox, WB can always shuffle it to the CW.
Final Fantasy, Foreign Policy, and Bollywood. Helluva combo, that...A show about Gotham...More Batman merchandise whoring. Nope don't think it'll work with me >_>
"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenOh brother, Donal Logue? With my aunt staying here I've been sitting through one crappy SVU ep after another, and his performance as a cop is soooo sleeeeepy. He couldn't act wet in a rainstorm.
Anyway, that unfortunate bit of casting aside, looks promising, but then we need to know the quality of writing first. The iMBD sets off some bells. I can just see a string of CBS-like procedurals and pouty models dressed up to sorta look like the social misfits from comics. Fox can afford to really phone it in here.
It's a tightrope: A prequel can't be too shackled to the future (Smallville's fetish for the Donner films, which was also DC's doing). But if it just becomes an Elseworld then the gravity of the plot is lost.
I'm a skeptical squirrelInterview with the showrunner.
Very informative, I think.
Final Fantasy, Foreign Policy, and Bollywood. Helluva combo, that...They are missing Barbara Kean in the image.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureAnd Selina Kyle. The little girl in the pic is Ivy.
EDIT: Never mind, I missed her perched on the fire escape.

Trump delenda estIt's surreal. When I first heard about this, it seemed futile. But now there's a logo, and a picture, and a trailer, and cast photos. It's like it all came together in a week - there's actually going to be a show about Batman that isn't part of the animated series.
Or starring Adam West.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Who is that woman next to Penguin?
Addition: While I believe this show is doomed from the start, the cast does look like who they are supposed to be.

(V)(;,,;)(V)Fish Mooney, Cobblepot's boss.
Final Fantasy, Foreign Policy, and Bollywood. Helluva combo, that...Odd name
(V)(;,,;)(V)This is going to be one of those prequels where the characters steal all of their gimmicks from their mentors or sidekicks, isn't it? "Fish Mooney." Yeah, Penguin doesn't exactly have a ring of terror, but at least it's better than Fish.
I'm a skeptical squirrelI would like to know how he goes from Cobblepot to Penguin. He doesn't look penguinish in this.
(V)(;,,;)(V)Not saying that this show will be like this but this is something I find boring unless it has a good justification. You have this really epic character, but it turns out that his entire character is actually a subset of an earlier character whom he copied or was mentored by. Just takes out the originality (and I also dislike the over-reliance in The Corrupter that most Start of Darkness have, but that's beside the point).
On Penguin, maybe he'll fall in a vat of chemicals or something of the sort.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Fish will make him wear a tux.
Or reassign him to the Antarctic....
He better have an umbrella/cane during the show; cause during that trailer, I didn't even know it was supposed to be Penguin till the names were shown.
(V)(;,,;)(V)Can't be more fabulous than the boss when your a mere mook. It seems they'll build him up to that, but he won't start that way.
Final Fantasy, Foreign Policy, and Bollywood. Helluva combo, that...I believe the promos show him with an umbrella.

Comicbook timelines have been fucked for the last ~40 years. Characters tend to be the age the plot needs them to be.
