Suggestion: Mirror Boss

The Mirror Boss page has no reason not to have an image. Perfect examples would be any shadow link fight from Zelda, particularly Ocarina Of Time's.◊

Alright, well theres plenty of shadow link instances, Zelda II◊, Four Swords Adventures◊, or if you wanted to trash zelda altogether, Cosmic Mario, even.

I think the Dark Link example in Ocarina of Time is iconic enough to work. It's also a good example because he mirrors your (sword) attacks. Four Swords Adventures wouldn't do well because Shadow Link has clones. Zelda II would work as well, but I'd go with Ocarina.

Uuuh, no. A lot of people don't play video games, let alone the Zelda ones.

Another example even could be Nega Scott◊ from Scott Pilgrim (though the actual boss fight from the game adaptation might work better, sorry, dont have a link to that one). My point here is there are plenty of perfectly illustrated examples around, and Mirror Boss is just too widely used to have no image.

The problem with all of these so far is that they look literal, but Mirror Boss is more than "mirror image boss".

It doesn't HAVE to be, but it's tough to illustrate it in a single frame without it being that literal.

Yeah, I see your point. In that case perhaps Sonic and Shadow◊ might be more fitting, or perhaps if we're leaning a LOT further towards parallels than evil counterparts, Isaac and Felix◊ from golden sun. Or hey, to a lesser extent, Wario and Mario◊ for good measure.

Of all suggestions, I think the OP is the best one. Sure, it's literal, but it also shows the trope. The other suggestions are mostly just two characters.

What would be a suggestion for a non-literal image?

Best non literal examples I could think of were in my last post, aside from three others which I stopped myself from seeing as they're spoilery. Seems like most people are in favor of the original post, though.

Two of those were what I described, and the third (well, second, Isaac and Felix) didn't load.

Hm, odd. Well I'm dealing with school internet filters here, so that might be why. Isaac and Felix aren't the best example anyway, I feel like there's plenty to choose from anyway.

EDIT: what I mean by that is, the image itself is filtered but still shows up in google. So I mightve put the url wrong seeing as I couldnt get it straight from the page. Raw url of what I have is img.photobucket.com/albums/v290/hyrulianjedi/golden sun/group/isaacvsfelix.png

But again, Isaac and Felix aren't necessarily the best illustrators of the trope on second thought, one would have to know that theyre both protagonists with similar gameplay mechanics and foils to each other.

More info on that image edited into previous post (irritating 10 minute post intervals...) and I'm out of ideas with that so unless anyone feels like they have a better image one of the preceding should work

Yeah, thats what I acknowledged before. Personally I'm still fond of shadow link, but Wario and Mario or Sonic and Shadow could also work well.

I would prefer something like Isaac and Felix.

One thing about Mirror Boss is that it doesn't have to be an Evil Counterpart. The important bit is that it's a boss who fights like the protagonist does, as opposed to being some big monster thing.

Or even one who fights like previous protagonists: see Julius from Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow.

If we can get the "fights like you" across without making it look like it has to be an Evil Knockoff, thenI think that would be a very good image.

Yeah, thats why I was thinking about things like Isaac and Felix Wario and Mario Sonic and Shadow etc. Each are definitely mirror bosses but also their own characters instead of an Evil Knockoff made of Applied Phlebotinum.

I also thought of Souji and Adachi from Persona 4, Pit and Dark Pit from Kid Icarus: Uprising and Travis and Henry from No More Heroes but decided these 3 examples while fitting were too spoilery.

Is the No More Heroes example all that spoilery? Desperate Struggle's been out for years, and that boss is a semi-major ally in that one.

Perhaps not, but the fact that you FIGHT him is a spoiler. Also, age of spoilers doesnt really matter, plot spoilers are plot spoilers.
