TLP Crash Rescue - Fixing prematurely launched TLPs and pages

Go To

Prematurely launched pages and pages that weren't fully fleshed out at the point of launching, are a big problem. Since these usually share several problems at once, this thread is aimed at re-running them through the TLP for fixing - the usual fix - or cutting them if they are too bad.

Problems this thread deals with include bad names, not enough/bad examples, unclear description, etc.

For the interested, here's a list of recently created pages. Launches

Note: Please do not request a mod to unlaunch drafts that don't have any issues besides lacking a launch notice/24hr launch notice. While 24hr launch notices are mandatory, there are a few exceptions to the rule. If you see a draft's sponsor launch a TLP without an announcement, it's best to remind them of our TLP Guidelines first. If they continue to repeatedly launch drafts without a launch notice, you can report them on Ask The Tropers or the TLP Community Issues thread.

@From Breakout To Scrappy: Motion to cut. The last thing we need is more scrappy articles. Especially since it's just going to be a page for people to complain about Ensemble Darkhorses they don't like.

And it doesn't even have a YMMV banner. WTF.

It was apparently intended to be launched as YMMV - the lack of a banner is probably just an accident or miscommunication.

That said, I agree that it should have never been launched. We don't need more Scrappy tropes, and this one in particular has some extra problems that are just going to make it a bashing magnet.

I've gone ahead and cutlisted AscendedIndex.Ascended Index; ~Leftywright, if you still think it's index-worthy feel free to put it through YKTTW.

This Index Is On Purpose: I can see what the intent was, but I think Bad Writing Index covers the same ground. "When an author intentionally introduces flaws in their work", except we generally avoid determining if it was deliberate or accidental.

From Breakout To Scrappy: That's going to attract bashing like rolling tumbleweeds, and I can see no merit to it. Cut it with prejudice.

I also believe From Breakout To Scrappy should be cut, so that makes four motions to cut. Is this enough input to send it to the Cut List?

@Princess Daisy: Cut it. She has her section in Characters.Super Mario Bros; no need for a stand alone page for any of the characters of the series, let alone one for one that's fairly minor in the series as a whole.

[up]There is no such thing as notability. If the page is properly written, formatted, etc, there's no reason not to have it. I'd say move it at this point.

There's no reason to have a single character as a separate page either. As-is, it's just a duplicate and needlessly confuses things. It's not like Daisy has so many tropes she needs her own page; not to mention the fact it needs to be cut anyway for being in the wrong namespace.

There Is No Such Thing As Notability applies to whether a work can have a wiki page, or whether an example from a work counts. Says so right on the page: "All works are notable." It doesn't trump reasonable organization of subpages.

The only reason I'm not comfortable with going ahead and cutlisting From Breakout To Scrappy is that I feel like it'll come across as stealth TRSing. While someone must have been asleep at the wheel for it to get launched, it's still not a YKTTW "crash" in the standard sense of this thread.

I'm not good at turning something into an index, can you give me an example on HOW I can do that?

~Orange Ratchet, you aren't supposed to turn anything into an index. You are supposed to index something.

Check Fan Fic; that is an index page. The bullets are the indexed items.

<Looks at pages>

No, still the same mistake as before (the procedure is wrong); I've indexed them now; check what I did here and here.

Oh, you're supposed to put them in DIFFERENT pages? Okay, I did not know that. I thought you were referring to something else. Okay, I think I got it now.

The creator of Princess Daisy knows about the Characters.Super Mario Bros page so I don't think we need to message them about it.
