For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

Alright, tonight... Released in the same year as The Hitcher, it's the comedy movie that otherwise killed the Hollywood career of one C. Thomas Howell: Soul Man, the story of a young white kid who schemes to get into Harvard by wearing blackface, which dubiously earns him a scholarship that is only given to black students.
Well, somebody thought it would be funny.
And a little extra food for thought from the "What Could Have Been" archives, per IMDb:
This travesty also stars Rae Dawn Chong, James Earl Jones, Leslie Nielsen, and Max Wright.
Okay, I'm getting us into the swing of things with cRiT1KaL, Lowtax, and Everything Is Terrible.
Then, at the top of the coming hour, C. Thomas Howell is Soul Man. God help us all.

YouTube put it up on Free to Watch: Nicolas Cage in Knowing.
It's the story of a very intense professor at M.I.T. linking a mysterious list of numbers from a time capsule to past and future disasters... and hoping to prevent the Mayan Apocalypse of 2012 or something globally catastrophic like that I don't know I never paid any attention to this movie when it first came out but it sounds better when I put it that way and c'mon Nic Cage is in this for crying out loud so why the hell should anybody not exaggerate a movie synopsis for the sake of it I mean really
Just remember, kids! Friggin' Roger Ebert gave this 4 stars.. Then again, Alex Proyas directed this and Dark City, so Ebert must have been saving Proyas's bacon from the inevitable.
Jeez, that's a connection I never realized. I remember Ebert being a huge fan of Dark City, but we also gave that movie bold distinction.
Oh, and I just got wind that David Hasselhoff is bent on releasing a new album (of cover songs) "...with a political message."
That also apparently involves covering "Sweet Caroline" in a collaboration with Ministry (Suddenly Al Jourgensen's version of Olivia Newton-John's "Let's Get Physical" doesn't seem so weird), so yeah "political message."
His first single (and title track) is a cover of The Lords of the New Church's "Open Your Eyes," which sounds exactly like the original song, except Hoff is singing...
Okay, I'm starting us off early as we Enter the Yo-Yo Zone (at our own leisure).
Then, at the top of the coming hour, Nicolas Cage is the Man Who Is Knowing Too Much...

I'm in a rush. Tonight is Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
Al Jourgensen has the nerve to put out this crap with the Hoff while still having a bone to pick over With Sympathy? Here I was thinking Al sobered up and became a preschool teacher.
Anyway, a riddle: what's colder than the Nordic Sea, dumber than a stump, more insecure than the Hoff, and stinks worse than surstromming? This man. You know him already.
So, tonight's movie infamously bankrupted Square Pictures, which was founded to be a movie division for video game developer Squaresoft (before they became Square-Enix). Let's find out why. Tonight, we present Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
Before that, something about trains or something.

Guys, could you come in? The only other person here right now is someone from another server who's never been here before.
I know this movie has a terrible reputation, but seriously, let's come in and have some fun.
...for what it's worth, it's my bowling night. And I thought this looked awesome when it came out (albeit I was in my teens)- heck, I would have watched Airplane Mode if I hadn't gotten late-night work. Hope you've been able to enjoy yourself some.
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.Sorry Bonsai, John and I lost track of time.
Everybody knows Heaven is a place on Earth, but so is Hell! It's true, look it up.Yeah, when I saw it was 6 here in Las Vegas, I knew that there was no chance Thomas and I were seeing the movie.
You saw nothing, most likely through warping space & time. Impressive. Oh, and you saw this post.Ah, I understand, guys. I found it strange that for a while, no-one was showing up (Lew and Ship did later). I was afraid the movie scared everyone away!
It was ★. The story was written by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy. You gotta be kidding me!! I find it interesting that the creator of the game series the movie was based on wrote it, and, well, it was this dull.
For the first 1/3 of the movie, we had a guest - someone from a different server, but she didn't say much. (I put in a call for anyone to join.) Anyone else who'd like to invite people in is welcome to do so!
Zanreo showed interest in watching it, as a movie based on a video game series, but was unable to join us.
Tomorrow, the movie will be a lot more fun - in fact, tomorrow we have a 3-star movie of ours.
In the meantime, I obtained a movie that someone called very strange, and that he thought we might find funny to laugh at. But that's for another time.

Oh, HO-OH-HOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo...
Tonight on Kung Fu Friday we revisit Godfrey Ho's truest cinematic masterpiece (in so much as it's comprised of wholly original footage shot by him): Undefeatable.
Cynthia Rothrock and Cop Guy are taking on the insanely vicious Stingray and leaving him hanging in the breeze...
For those unaware of why all footage in the movie being original is such a big deal, it's because of the history of Godfrey Ho.
He made his name taking existing Chinese movies, adding in footage of westerners (Americans, British, etc.), dressed as ninjas and fighting, and dubbing it over with an original story and dialog.
But this movie here is unique. Godfrey, who was getting more well known in the US, actually came here and filmed an entirely original movie here. It's a first for him.
I'm trying to remember this other Godfrey Ho movie we gave to. The climax had the main cop characters storming a building that exploded, abruptly ending as they were all falling and screaming from the window. That was a classic.
Tonight, Kristi (Cynthia Rothrock) is Undefeatable! Well, she needs a little bit of help at times, but mostly she is!
Before that, the usual Friday pre-show.

I can't imagine Godfrey Ho ending a movie like that, Myst. You sure it was him and not another director?
I've had my eye on this one for a long time!
War is God.Well, see ya there, Prom.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.5x Myst, I don't recall that one at all. Perhaps it's one I missed. My personal favorite was one I came late to that ended at some character's gravesite and three other characters paying respects—a man, a woman, and a detective/cop. The cop infers that he's gonna look the other way and let the other two characters go for some reason and constantly presses them to leave ("Go on, get outta here... I go back on duty again in five minutes!"), and then the movie suddenly ends with the man and the woman running away and leaping into the air in a joyous freeze frame.
Anyway, I don't know much about this movie, but it's been on our Test Channel for a couple weeks now (Did somebody else pick this one out?). It's called Timber Falls, and the IMDb plot synopsis details the typical Deliverance-esque sordid tale of camping in the mountains before winding up on the wrong end of "a grotesque plot hatched by deranged locals."
Again, I never heard of this movie before, and I have no idea who initially picked it out.
Alright, I'll describe this one as a surprising treat, although that's just my personal opinion.
An action film written by, directed by, and starring Keenan Ivory Wayans as an ex-cop-turned-private-investigator taking on a criminal kingpin he thought was long dead.
The biggest treats to unearth in this one are some of the small and supporting players, including coven favorites Sven-Ole Thorsen (aka Secundus) as a heavy and Andrew Divoff as the aforementioned criminal kingpin... plus "that guy Arnold blew away with a shotgun" in Commando and a sassy as fuck Jada Pinkett, before she got her "Smith."
If you can't be around for this one tonight, then that's A Low Down Dirty Shame...
