I felt a little sorry for the guy. Like yeah, there are lot of reasons why someone might hate him. But Hatsheput didn't hate him because any of those reasons. She just hated him because he was born a guy and she wasn't.

I guess Ascendance of a Bookworm is not for me. Maine's constant selfishness is just getting on my nerves rather than make me laugh.

Trying to become a librarian, but first up is making a book. The point I stopped at had her trying to make papyrus while her family works hard to keep her from freezing to death while she totally ignores them and considers them a bunch of savages that should really be helping her out more if anything.

I don't remember her endangering her family, but it's been a while since I caught up with it. It becomes bogged down in fantasy world economics for a bit, which is always fantastic.

It's not that she endangered them, it's that she's so entitled. "Meh whatever losers, I need to make my book, go keep me safe on your own time. And stop interrupting when I'm making paper ffs can't you see how important this is ??"

Huh. Just saw a mediocre Korean web novel totally rip off the revenge monkeys from Kumo. Unless Kumo copied that from an even earlier series. Anyway, did not expect Kumo to have imitators.

Does anyone here read Manga/Kurokochi? It is one of the best crime mangas I've read, not that I read many but this one is great.

Copy this from General Isekai Thread

So I recently finished two of a relatively obscure Isekai and most of them feature princess as a villain of the story. One is Goodbye Isekai Tensei and another one is a lenghty name but its called The Strongest Brave Who Craves Power of Darkness or something like that. One I feel is a funny parody and another one is serious and have a bit of a tragedy so yeah...

I've been reading Kusuriya no Hitorigoto a seien about Maomao a pharmacist working a red lights districts who gets kidnapped and made into a maid in emperors harem, which is going through turbulent times, as emperor's children keep dying in infancy.

A very interesting series that surprisingly enough a detective story, as Maomao gets roped into using her knowledge to help solve various intrigues and mysteries of the imperial court. Maomao is a super fun and interesting protagonist, with a strong personality and plenty of fun quirks. The rest of the cast is also very well developed including even bit characters.

[up]Just read it. Pretty good, i like the main character and the art. Main character kinda Mary-sue but it okay in this kind of story since it require wits and intelligent to solve the mystery.

Side note: some part translate make my laugh like when they said Lady Rifa ember is ultramarine, make me think she was given a bunch of blue space marine.

Just read Beastars volume 3 and my god this series is incredible. The characters may be animals, but all of them, their world and their dialogue feel so incredibly human and vivid… Even if there isn't really much of a plot, there's a fascinating story. Especially in this volume, where we discover that the adult world isn't quite as idyllic as Cherryton Academy. That scene with that old herbivore offering his fingers to eat against money still haunts my nightmares…

Speaking of which, new trailer for the Beastars anime:

…I'm… really not sure about this. CG seems like the worst possible choice to adapt the manga's artstyle.

Having fun with I'll Live My Second Life, a story about a princess who gets dragged into a marriage with her more talented younger twin sister and runs away at the first opportunity to become a knight. She cross dresses and becomes an infiltration expert who happens to serve under the direction of the (disguised) king she's technically married to. At first I thought it was shaping up to be one of those grim 'everyone hates the protagonist for things outside their control' stories but watching Fii just go 'ah fuck it, fuck being a princess and fuck these shitty kings that sold me off like cattle and then abandoned me' was rather charming.

I'm looking forward to "Captain York" figuring out who the newest recruit actually is. Forty chapters in and he doesn't even realize the queen disappeared from the villa she was basically imprisoned in because he keeps brushing off the report of the spy watching her after he confirms that she technically hasn't done anything suspicious.

Pffft. Fii is a treasure.

Aaand yep, ran out of translated chapters. I get the feeling that Roy is the one who originally taught Fii how to write and he was actually intending to marry her all along, but mixed the sisters up somehow. And also that it's her fault he's so terrible with women.

Just finished completing Ookami Shounen wa Kyou mo Uso o Kasaneru or The Boy Who Cried Wolf Tells Another Lie Today.

Wow, I've seen this recc'd multiple times before elsewhere but glad I gave it the chance. If you're familiar with Onani Master Kurosawa, this is like a very light version of that kind of story, just from a very narrow impression.

It's one of those premises that made me wonder how this would get resolved but I can't think of anything better to do with it. There's a sincerity despite the deception that carries it. I really am happy with this.

Oh and I guess they won't be considered under the radar anymore but Senko-san and Senryu Shoujo are getting animes next anime season, so that's great.

While it's been a while since either an update to the English translation or a new chapter, I enjoy being part of the tiny Flower Knight Dakini fandom. The story's about Eiden, a dog man artist, who befriends the title character Dakini after watching her defend the town he's in from Sky Golems. Those things showed up in the mangaka's previous stories (The Jackalope and Pandemonium Wizard Village), which are part of the same world, but this is the first time they've actually been repelled and damaged on-panel.

Dakini is really cute and badass, Eiden's a dork, the art's beautiful, and the author's finally getting the chance to worldbuild like never before. The soon-to-be-translated chapters also go in an unexpected direction.

I've actually got a thread for the author's works right here if anyone's interested.

Finished Until Your Bones Rot yesterday. Despite its flaws, I did like the manga. It managed to keep my interest all the way to the end. Also, I personally liked the conclusion.

Besides that, I'm still reading The Bones of an Invisible Person. Still a very interesting manga and it's getting better with each chapter.

Single Mom Adventurer (real title too long and ridiculous) has been pretty fun. It's a LN about a beautiful, talented woman named Shirley who was engaged to the crown prince, but her little sister seduced him and convinced him that the protagonist was torturing her their whole lives. Despite the story having massive holes in it, he falls for it because unlike when they first met, Shirley has become extremely capable and his ego can't stand it.

She's captured and tortured, but eventually escapes only to find she's pregnant. She swears revenge... only to find she's pregnant. She gives up on the revenge thing, moves to another country and becomes a completely stupidly doting mother for her twin daughters. To pay the bills she becomes an adventurer, but refuses to get promoted because then the country can demand she take certain requests to help save the kingdom in times of crisis and she can't bear to be away from her daughters for more than two to three days.

It's adorable what a stupid mother she is. Her kids are pretty cute too.

[up][up] …So is this supposed to be dark or cute? >.> The second half of the description jars with the first.

Meanwhile, I just read volume 9 of To Your Eternity (which may or may not have a thread, but the search function is useless, so…) The Black One continues to tell Imm information that he could have given him one or two centuries ago, but he seems to have his reasons. And for the first time, the Knockers appear as sentient enemies with actual motives, which is very welcome. Also incredible how much more likeable Bonshen has become in just a couple of volumes. I actually like how the reveal of "Todo" being Iris wasn't played as a huge surprise and shock to him, but something he had already figured out. Makes the situation a bit less cliché. And a new mysterious character appears… Well, two if we count the one who died right away…

This series' anime sure takes its sweet time to come. =[

Cute. The dark stuff is just two prologue chapters and the next 85 are either adorable hijinks or Shirley wrecking dragons.
