The only EA IP I actually like is Dragon Age, and like I said already the recent EA fuckery has convinced me that the next game in the series, if it even ever gets made, will have a lot of issues.
Disgusted, but not surprisedSo EA’s fighting Belgium right.
GO Belgium 🇧🇪, kick these avaricious motherfuckers asses.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Boxing Match: EA vs EU.
Who would win? The laws of belgium or one small scummy boi?
Uni catCan we stop throwing lootboxes cuz everyone's gonna go home.
All I can say to the Belgian government is:
"Give EA no quarter, for they will take a mile if they are given an inch!"
Long version: Make sure that the case they have versus EA is airtight, don't let EA take advantage of any loopholes, and watch out for Quislings within the government who may be actually working in the interests of Wilson and his minions.
P.S.: While I'm at it, any updates on where Patrick Söderlund is now? I wonder if he'll jump ship to Fucktivision-Jizzard or the progenitor of "games as a service"...SEGA.
"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."Yeah rivals has got to take the cake, for horrible things done to a beloved franchise.
I’m only now getting over the death of Bullfrog, and that’s because it’s basically been rebuilt with a new name.
"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ Cyran> I’m only now getting over the death of Bullfrog, and that’s because it’s basically been rebuilt with a new name.
Bullfrog,Westwood ect were not killed by EA outright, rather it was how they were managed that led to EA closing them down, had it not been EA it would have been someone else
New theme music also a boxThe argument is that the studios essentially made a Deal with the Devil. Sure, becoming part of EA gives them money and saves the studio from immediate financial concerns. But then EA starts making demands of them that the studios are not prepared to handle. Eventually, they are liquidated when they can't meet EA's expectations. Leaving EA with the IP.
And that's how we got Rivals.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI get that, but to be fair jobs are on the line here. I feel like people jump to the conclusion that it's a simple decision of a moral highground. Nobody likes losing sources of income, especially if you're Nameless Programmer#78. I don't like EA but if I was on the shoes of the CEO of those companies, I most likely would've done the same, even if it meant delaying the inevitable.
Nothing against anyone in the thread, just a general annoyance with folks that underestimate how tough of a decision it is to make. And I understand that too, it's how market is; we care more about the products than the people working on them. Then again, when was the last time a company tried to acquire one in their comfort zone.

The point is that EA did indeed "kill" the studios they acquired.
From Heavy.com
Studios EA Has Killed: A History
This article is dated October 2017. It lists twenty studios EA has acquired and liquidated, from Bullfrog to Visceral.
I have this eerie feeling that if Anthem does not meet expectations, Bioware will be next.

Disgusted, but not surprisedNah, I wasn't exactly absolving EA. They do engage in some pretty shady tactics to get studios to do what they want. My point is that the CEO's of these companies weren't at the point where they could just say "nope" and get a happy ending.

Jim has posted a video on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and so far, he's not impressed
Interestingly, he seems to find it So Okay, It's Average all across the board, while others have said it's better due to the increased focus on exploration. I have no idea tbh. What do you guys think?
Think he's simply burned out on the style of game. Same as with Dishonored 2 or Prey - if he were to review the 2013 Tomb Raider or the first Dishonored today, he'd probably MEDIOCRE! them, too.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Makes me want an HD remaster of the PS 1 Tomb Raiders even more.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRrejdfJDB8 - Finland Begins Investigating The Legality Of Loot Boxes
Seems Finland's only going for Valve at the moment- shame, since I feel like EA having to fend two companies off would be a right scare to make them swallow their pride on the whole FIFA debacle.
Progress is progress at least, I don't think Finland's investigations are gonna be all that much of a hot-button issue compared to Belgium right now. One's hitting higher key, the other's just scrutinizing technicalities.
And while I'm here, I'm calling it now Monday's episode is gonna be revisiting the Switch's online subscription service. You heard it here first folks.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaMakes me wonder if Finland's issue is specifically with the Skin Economy part of CSGO?

@Nes Classic: Fucking hell you called that one so hard its rn up the phone bill to "Oh fuck me" levels
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowHaha! Shit why didn't I get the unlimited data plan for this one.
Wasn't too hard of a call to be fair, it was a subject Jim touched on before and over the past few days it's been a huge point of contention for a lot of Switch owners. Outside of Isabelle in Smash, it's the big thing from the Direct everyone's been talking about entirely due to all the caveats that come with it.
Cloud saves get deleted the instant your subscription expires, and online-heavy games that need the subscription to be functional can't use cloud saves because of a bogeyman Nintendo set up. Everyone thought the subpar offerings were the catch, but this? Yeah, wouldn't be Nintendo attempting modern video game conveniences if it didn't faceplant like this.
Some side anecdotes Jim didn't touch on:
- He touched on how Splatoon 2's already rife with cheaters, but failed to mention how they came about in the first place. It's because of an unpatchable hardware exploit in the Switch, basically meaning Nintendo can't do anything about it. Which, by extension, means their Save Scumming concerns are moot because it's their bandage on a neck stump.
- The NES controller Joy-Cons come with a sixty dollar price tag without any of the Joy-Con's fancier features like HD Rumble. They can also only be bought by people who own a Switch Online subscription, which is very silly.
- Also, one of the online's selling points as shown in the information video they made for it is "Special Offers" which they refused to elaborate on. They just said "we'll have more to announce later" which is very Nintendo of them.
I love your games, Nintendo, but also screw you Nintendo.
Sad thing is, between the cheap price point and it being needed for some games I already own? I'm gonna buy it anyways just because I'm being strongarmed into it. Kinda hard to play Smash with my friends in other states if I can't even use the online...
Nintendo Switch Online needed a Killer App sort of feature that separated it from the rest of the competition and its previous, free incarnation. NES games won't do it for me; never lived in the NES era. What we need is Gamecube virtual releases, as they have yet to appear on any Virtual Console iteration. It's starting to become the forgotten generation of retro titles.
And frankly, I'm sick of the NES stuff. I already have the games across multiple platforms, NES Classic being the latest one.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.I love NES games, but I've seen several games that were easily hosted on simple flash sites (not to mention emulation). Gamecube games are the games that are hard to emulate, even with the Dolphin emulator, it's been about ten years since the last one came out, it's got a great library of games that haven't seen rereleases despite having a lot of fans, and it's the last console before Nintendo started being gimmicky (motion controls, dual-screen, hybrid, etc. etc). So many titles are just ripe for porting.
Qui odoratus est qui fecit.
Pfff. Dungeon Keeper Mobile
Or actually working for them
One of those two is my lowest.
