Putin is a laughingstock IMO. He's obsessed over Russia being a "besieged fortress" and yet the very world order he apparently wants to destroy has done far more to keep people like him in power.
Plus the idea that he and Trump have a "bromance" is silly and it reminds me of how close buddies he was to Bush. He likes them because they're stupid and easy to manipulate, and not because he actually shares their policy preferences.

That tweet is the dumbest thing I've seen in a hot minute.
No shit Trump was going to kowtow to Putin. That's the point. No one is surprised that he did. The fact that he did so hard that even his own propaganda wing can't defend him is impressive.
You can have low expectations and can (and should) still call Trump out when he's shitty. The tone of the tweet seems to indicate exactly the kind of lame-ass "Trump will be Trump, there's no point trying to hold him accountable" attitude that's so toxic.

It's kind of true, though. I remember when some in the media thought sending US tanks to Ukraine was a good thing, as if it definitely wouldn't result in more Ukrainians getting killed, or the war eventually spilling out of Crimea and Eastern Ukraine.
Plus, have you even seen how unwilling Republicans are to hold Trump accountable? I'm not sure a Democratic-controlled House will change that especially if Republicans keep the Senate, which is very likely even with huge Democratic turnout.

That assumes Russia isn't willing to start nuclear conflict to win the war. When you're a cornered regime, you have to do anything necessary to stay on top.
Conflicts based on ideological motivations always end in catastrophe for all sides. Besides, do you really think Putin cares a lot about human life, let alone his own people? Hell his people would probably be willing to die with him if it means salvation.

If they entered the territory yes, but I’m talking about setting up on the border, honestly you’d want a Russian continent as part of it if it was going to be serious effort.
That or you put western troops out west so as to free up Ukrainian forces to be moved towards the front.

Have you actually done any research into the political situation in Russia and into Putin's MO and the ideologies surrounding him and post-Soviet politics in the region or are you just going to spout generalized statements and try him like some caricature of what people think dictators are?
Yeah, the idea that Russia would start a nuclear war or attack NATO troops in Ukraine is just ridiculous.
A peacekeeping force there would have done a lot of good because it would have both minimized the spread of the conflict and detracted from Russian attempts at deniability. NATO intervention could also have kept the Ukrainian military from getting torn apart so quickly.

Technically Sweden is in a Mutual Defense Treaty with Norway and Denmark...the latter of which is a NATO country, soooooo....
