First thing's first: KEEP. THIS. SHIT. CIVIL. If you can't talk about race without resorting to childish insults and rude generalizations or getting angry at people who don't see it your way, leave the thread.
With that said, I bring you to what can hopefully be the general thread about race.
First, a few starter questions.
- How, if at all, do you feel your race affects your everyday life?
- Do you believe that white people (or whatever the majority race in your area is) receive privileges simply because of the color of their skin. How much?
- Do you believe minorities are discriminated against for the same reason? How much?
- Do you believe that assimilation of cultures is better than people trying to keep their own?
- Affirmative Action. Yea, Nay? Why or why not?
Also, a personal question from me.
- Why (in my experience, not trying to generalize) do white people often try to insist that they aren't white? I can't count the number of times I've heard "I'm not white, I'm 1/4th English, 1/4th German, 1/4th Scandinavian 1/8th Cherokee, and 1/8th Russian," as though 4 of 5 of those things aren't considered "white" by the masses. Is it because you have pride for your ancestry, or an attempt to try and differentiate yourself from all those "other" white people? Or something else altogether?

And it doesn't help there are legal ways to just delay those fines until they prescribe or they can be "negotiated" until they are a slap on the wrist or "forgiven".
Inter arma enim silent legesI have no words.
I never get why someone would use that kind of defense or excuse because it’s just so stupid.
Like for a lighter example, I know someone who hate English-speaking fandoms because they are weeb those fandoms are so toxic compared to Japanese fandoms which is a fucking lie. They are as toxic as English-speaking fandoms. And their response is “If we ignore the haters and trolls, they are nice” which is one hell of a response. If we use that moon logic, all fandoms are nice.
Seriously, this kind of shit is why all the “identity politics isn’t important” crap is questionable at best.
I'm not as witty as I think I am. It's a scientifically-proven fact.THIS was the bullshit I was talking about previously. Meanwhile, black victims are usually called "not angels"

I'm not saying he should lose his job, buuuuuuuuuuut...
The most offensive part is that health issues are just used a shield to not talk about America's white nationalism problem.
Like if the people think it's a mental health issue, we should have perfect mental health reform by now.
But nope, it's just "He had mental illness" and then a week later, still stigmatizes the mentally ill and laughs at the thought of public healthcare
Idiot tried too hard to make this about his field of expertise — disinformation — and completely downplayed the more obvious explanation.
Namely that the asshole killed black people because he was a racist piece of shit.
Disgusted, but not surprisedMaybe he saw free dental care in prison as a perk, but as one of the tweets points out, he had thousands of dollars in tactical gear on him. If he had that money to spend on his killing spree, he had it to spend on dental.
I'm not gonna read the article in all likelihood, but just going by that description I must facepalm immensely. Guy's a Nazi prick, nothing more and nothing less.
"Any campaign world where an orc samurai can leap off a landcruiser to fight a herd of Bulbasaurs will always have my vote of confidence"There are also plenty of other crimes you could commit to go to prison that don't involve committing a hate crime. Smash up a jewelry store or something.
This was about killing, not dentistry.
It's been fun.For context, the tweet thread is about how the shooter blamed Jewish people for his toothache, a blame he ascribed to them because 4chan told him that Jews were the root of all evil, and from there it led to Jews were importing black people to replace white people.
At one point he makes reference to something about his dental insurance, but never seems to try and get it addressed or even try another dentist, because he decided to just blames Jews for all his problems.
If that's the case, then once again I'm mildly surprised that he didn't shoot up any Jewish synagogues in the Binghamton area. Mildly, because I'm pretty sure he didn't because he figured he couldn't get as high of a body count as targeting a grocery store, and he really wanted to kill a lot of people.
If these guys are so terrified of being replaced, they should try asking Native Americans how they feel about being a minority in their own country due to centuries of murder and displacement.
Oh, they are quite aware. I've seen people claiming "leftist are quick to remind you that the replacement of native Americans was an atrocity, but apparently it is a-okay if it happens to white people."
They also don't care, the fascist worldview fundamentally operates on social Darwinism. The Natives suffered horribly because they were weak (in the fascist's eyes) and thus deserved everything they got.
Now of course these people are also hypocrites and would howl to the high heavens if the same was done to white people but that's expected. Their idealogy is built on brutalizing the in-group, any ethos that helps with that be it capitalism or (their malformed understanding of) Darwinism will be eagerly embraced.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnPosting this here mainly for archival purposes since the bulk of the saga seems to be over for now. After Game 3 of the second-round series of the Stanley Cup playoffs between the Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues, Nazim Kadri of the Avs received multiple racist messages and death threats directed toward him and his family, enough to involve law enforcement both to investigate and to have then protect both the hotel the Avlanche were staying while in St. Louis for Games 3 and 4 as well as the players' tunnel to the ice at Enterprise Center for the latter game. Kadri is a Muslim of Lebanese descent. The threats came after Kadri and Calle Rosen of the Blues both collided with Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington early in Game 3, which took the Blues' best goalie out via series-ending injury.
It gets complicated due to Kadri's reputation as a dirty player and a pest along the lines of Boston's Brad Marchand or Washington's Tom Wilson, including an eight-game suspension for an illegal check to the head to the Blues' Justin Faulk in last year's playoffs. This reputation probably primed Blues fans to blame Kadri for another dirty play to take out the team's best goaltender, even though non-involved hockey observers generally find that Kadri was not at fault for the incident. Blues coach Craig Berube didn't help matters with comments made after Game 3, simply saying, "look at (Kadri's) reputation" when asked about the collision — he later clarified that he wasn't aware of the racist shit directed at Kadri and denounced them as unacceptable. No penalty was called at the time of the collision, and the NHL declined to levy any further disciplinary actions on Kadri or anyone else after the game.
At any rate, Kadri took Berube's original comments as bulletin board material and went on to score his first career playoff hat trick in Game 4, a 6-3 Avalanche victory, taunting the crowd after he scored his second goal by pointing at his own head while smiling as if to say, "Yeah, I'm living rent-free in your head now." The Avalanche eventually eliminated the Blues in 6 games.

So, hockey player with a legitimate history of dirty play may or may not have played really dirty in a game, and a lot of hockey fans decided to vent their anger with racism.
Also, apparently there's a hockey team that's just named after a color?
The team was named after the music genre.
Hence why it's "Blues" and not "Blue".

I've talked before about a podcast I listen to, Fraudsters and episodes they do on "race hustling", specifically affinity frauds and forms of cultural appropriation, covering figures like David Duke, Dr. Umar Johnson, various individuals who impersonated minorities to their benefit (one becoming a leading figure in the local NAACP before being outed), and Steven Seagal.
Their most recent series is a 3-Parter on Shaun King, who has enriched himself on fundraising in the name is black causes, such as disaster relief in Haiti or, as of the end of episode 1, doing crowd funding for the family of Tamir Rice, a black child killed by a white cop, a) without actually telling the family he was doing so, b) requiring a lawyer for the family to take he matter to court when they did find out and c) the legal complications of the whole thing requiring withdrawals of what money was claimed to require a judge's ruling, prohibitively restricting access to the funds raised in their dead child's name without their knowledge.
Link to episode 1 for anyone curious:

I guess when the party that promotes vaccine conspiracy is overwhelmingly white, that would happen.
Fines are a whole other matter. As they work in most societies (with a fixed, unchanging ground of value) they're built (intentionally or not) to disproportionately punish the poor and let the rich off the hook (as they can simply afford it). Fines proportional to income are the ones that start to have some measure of the intended effect, but as they are they're a slap on the wrist for white collar crime.
