This thread exists to discuss British politics.
Political issues related to Northern Ireland and the Crown Dependencies (the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) are also considered on-topic here if there's no more appropriate OTC thread for them.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines before posting here.
As with other OTC threads, off-topic posts may be thumped or edited by the moderators.
- There is a dedicated thread to discuss LGBTQ+ rights in the United Kingdom. That doesn't mean it's always off-topic here, but unless something's directly linked to political events, that's probably a better thread for it.
- There's also a separate thread to talk about your favourite British Prime Ministers.
Recent political stuff:
- The vote to see if Britain should adopt Alternative Voting has failed.
- Lib Dems lose lots of councils and councillors, whilst Labour make the majority of the gains in England.
- The Scottish National Party do really well in the elections.

I'm pretty sure Trump has no illusions about Trudeau or Merkel liking him. Macron, maybe.
Given how easy it is to win grace with Trump, I think as long as he hear them saying nice stuff about him or not acting like, you know, Trump himself.
I'm sure that Trump at least thinks they either like or respect him.
Inter arma enim silent legesTrump is getting a military show outside Blenheim Palace. It's interesting to see that place now substituted for Buckingham Palace in Real Life after decades of doing so in Film and Live-Action TV.
Maybe Trump thinks it is Buckingham Palace for that very reason.
Wasn't Trump saying that the UK was "in turmoil" just the other day?
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerThere's one thing we're all united in: agreeing that he's an utter wanker.
Yup, and on that point he's said "Hard Brexit or no new trade deal"
That is pretty much the equivalent of throwing a lit match into the powderkeg that is the Tory party right now. I would not be surprised if we have Liam Fox's resignation by the weekend.

Remember how the whole point of this exercise was about freeing us from being forced to bend to the demands of foreign powers?
"Yup. That tasted purple."I remember when everyone who heard that and pointed out that this would probably happen was accused of "fearmongering".
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerIt's all in an exclusive interview with The Scum. He's also said that Boris should be PM.
Also: the baby blimp is pretty much the reason he stayed away from London. Honestly, we could make a cottage industry of making these things if it stops Trump that easily. A sort of inflatable scarecrow suitable for someone who lacks a brain, heart and courage.
And gold plates the ruby slippers
Also I get the impression given his open hatred of strong women that he's going to be demanding an invasion to remove the monarchy by the end of the day.
"Yup. That tasted purple."77% of British public have an unfavourable view of Donald Trump, ITV Tonight poll finds
...But I thought we were all supposed to love him.
Also apparently Germaine Greer threw her weight behind him. As if I needed more reason to bracket any time she calls herself a feminist in massive bleeding sarcasm quotes.
"Yup. That tasted purple."WHAT!? But... it came from the man himself!! How could he be wrong?! ALL I KNOW IS A LIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! *SOB*
[ahem] Sorry. Just trying to lighten the mood. Boy, having a total breakdown in text form is weird. Makes you wonder how Trump manages it on a daily basis.
Also, Germaine Greer sounds like a piece of work. Think I was better off not knowing about her, really :P

Wasn't she the same person who claimed that it's only rape if it involved violence?
Disgusted, but not surprisedAnd that the victims might as well enjoy it? Or am I thinking of a different person, all these POS TER Fs tend to blend together.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. The thing you have to remember is that to have a breakdown the system has to be working to begin with. There are serious doubts about that when it comes to Trump.
Someone brought a Dalek with a Trump Toupé and tie to the London Protest today.
Here's him in action it also involves Theresa Cyber-May.

Have they caught the paraglider pilot yet? (For those that don't know, when Trump was at his golf resort in Scotland, a Greenpeace paraglider managed to get into the No Fly zone and streaked across the sky with a banner that said 'Trump: Very below par #Resist'. Trump got hustled inside very quickly but the press got a clear view of it all.
I think the take home message of this entire visit is that Trump did achieve something most people think is impossible: he made The Sun look good.
And for those that haven't heard that story: A couple of days ago, Trump gave an interview to The Sun. The day after, at the press conference with May, he ranted about The Sun being fake news (which it normally is) and that it didn't quote him properly because he said very positive things about May that the paper didn't put into the article. He singled out two Sun reporters who were present over this. The Sun reporters pointed out that the bits he said were left out of the article were actually in the article. The other journalists did some fact checking, and the The Sun was correct — the things Trump claimed weren't in there, were.
In short, Trump ranting about The Sun has proven The Sun wrote an accurate article about him.
For The Sun, this is a coup.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Damn...so far it was kind of a badge of Honor to be labelled by Trump as fake news and now he even ruined that by grouping the Sun into this illustre circle.
The Sun fighting for accurate reporting of right wing idiocy, that’s got to be up there with the time the Mail fought against a racist miscarriage of justice.
"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ Cyran"May you live in interesting times" indeed.
Let's just hope they remain just "mildly" interesting.
I was happier bored.
He also thinks he has a good rapport with Putin and Kim Jong Un.
Disgusted, but not surprised
