Game wise, each of the "races" is one of the factions (I believe each divides into subfactions as well). So while the lore focuses on a few groups and the overall state of the galaxy at large, the game is mostly interchangable Dn D style stuff.
Fight smart, not fair.Well, the Necron codex is out now, so the new fluff is canon. And I see no reason to force Fan Discontinuity onto the page. Put relevant info on the YMMV page if you don't like the new necrons.
Also, I went to see if there was a similar block of "we don't like the new codex" for the Grey Knights on the character page. They're not on the character page because they have their own Main namespace page for some reason. It looks like it's playing double duty as character examples for the army and a brief collection of work examples for the novels. Should I roll the related info into the proper pages and cut the page?
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984I'd say that page needs to be specifically about the books, so the chapter-specific information could be rolled into the character list.
Is this something that still requires a TRS thread, or is it something that can be worked out on the discussion page for this work?
Well, we still have to get this done, which maybe more of Special Efforts' speciality.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Okay guys, this has been moved to Special Efforts for the sake of enacting the above linked course of action, which I'll be reposting for your convenience.
We are proposing reorganizing the trope list along a categorization paradigm:
Current category proposals:
- Setting: Settings and Setting-centered tropes.
- Narrative: Well, Exactly What It Says on the Tin - Narrative Tropes.
- Gameplay: Again, quite straightforward - Game Tropes.
- Themes: Motifs and Central Themes.
- Meta: Meta-Concepts and Trope Tropes.
Notes:
- A category will only need to be folderized/split into a subpage if it's long enough to warrant such a measure.
- Characterization Tropes, tropes under Characters, and all other "Character-centric" tropes that do not belong under any of the above categories would be shuttled to the Character Sheets as necessary.
Next, adding Character Sheet subsections for plot-important individuals:
-
The God-Emperor of MankindDone - The Primarchs - with the most prominent being: Horus (first of the Primarch to be found by the Emperor), Sanguinius (whom Horus actually considered more worthy to be the Emperor's successor when the latter conferred the Warmaster title on Horus), Roboute Guilliman (he and his Legion were largely the reason the Imperium did not collapse upon itself in the wake of the Horus Heresy, for one), and Magnus the Red (if the Emperor had reacted differently to his warning about Horus...). Two for the Loyalists, two for the Traitors; seems fair, no?
-
The four Gods of ChaosDone - The most distinguished non-Primarch Chaos Champions; namely: Abaddon the Despoiler (Chaos Undivided), Kharn the Betrayer (Khorne), Typhus (Nurgle), Ahriman (Tzeentch), and Lucius the Eternal (Slaanesh).
- Historical Imperial galaxy-scale VIP figures: Ollanius Pius, legendary saint of the Imperial Guard (rest of the site is largely NSFW) and arguably the most badass character in the entire setting; Goge Vandire, Sebastian Thor, Lord Macharius (of the Macharian Crusade), Inquisitor Kryptmann (foremost Imperial authority on fighting Tyranids to date), and Ciaphas Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM!
Notes:
- For the curious, Ollanius Pius' Heroic Sacrifice is explicitly mentioned in Dark Heresy, which also lampshades the ret-cons by mentioning in the same place that some versions of the legend replace him with an Imperial Fists Space Marine or a Custodes.
- I've been thinking on whether or not we should make entries for characters that keep being reused as Army choices in various Codices, like Inquisitor Coteaz of the Ordo Malleus. What do you think?
This is, of course, always open for suggestions for the sake of improvement.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. This thread seems to be long stale and the pages have moved on in terms of organization to more recently concluded changes. Locking this.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman
The intro probably should have some info about how the game is actually played in it...the fluff can be put in a non-foldercontrol'ed folder like was done with the extra adaptations on the Neon Genesis Evangelion page.
As far as the changes made to the Necrons, I'd say that an extra paragraph can be added to the end of their description on the character page, with notes that the changes may be wiped out again.
