Anyway. Any of you from Canada, post things here.

I have seven words to say that may help redeem our country: Nathan Fillion, Jewel Staite and Keanu Reeves.

Ba da bump.

There's lots of Canucks on the site, but I'd say most don't visit Troper Covens regularly. (I don't. :P) Where Are You From and the troper map are useful for stalking checking out fellow Canuckian tropers.

I'm in good ol' Newfoundland, myself. Talks with da accent 'n everything. grin

Thanks for the all fish!

Ahh, the Newfie Accent. I wonder, is it that the Newfie accent is inherently funny, or is it that so many Canadian Comedians come from the Maritimes that the accent is forever associated with humour?

Albertan Troper over here. You know, Texas with Snow.

I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed when I realized the famed "Canadian Accent" is just a Minnesotan accent with "eh?" added on occasion. It especially came to mind in a recent Atop The Fourth Wall segment where Linkara mentions that Minnesota has two seasons: Winter and Road Construction. My first thought is "That's MY joke about Alberta!"

A little from column B and a lot from column A. Although, correction, Newfoundland's not part of the Maritimes, it's part of the Atlantic provinces. Maritimes = just PEI, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. Also, yes, Newfoundland has to be different about everything. :P

Trigger, your outlook on accents is entirely too States-centric. The stereotypical Canadian accent isn't "the Minnesota accent with an 'eh,'" it's that the Minnesota accent is the Canadian accent without the "eh"! Also, Canada is not America's hat, America is Canada's underwear.  *

True enough. Still, it's not like Canada doesn't have enough accents to go around. Though I do wonder how others view the Western Canada Accent? I have vaguely heard that our accent is so subtle to us that we can't even tell we're speaking differently from, say, southwestern Americans, but they know they're talking to a Canadian.

And don't forget the Quebec accent. A weird sort of Low French Drawl. Who knew the French accent could sound so bumpkin?

Apologies to any Quebeckers reading. I tried to find a way to phrase that nicely, and I don't think it's possible. Probably shouldn't have said it.

Hey, Toronto-area Tropers!

I'm currently here on break with some of my friends. We're staying at a hostel in Chinatown. What's there to do?

The Silver Snail. Snobby as all get-out, but still a decent comics-and-manga shopping experience. Also, if you're into perky goths, they tend to cluster around the Queen St W area where the Snail is located.

Let's see, there's ice skating in Mel Lastman Square, and Casa Loma if you like big fancy houses with secret passages, and St Lawrence Market if you're a morning person and love back bacon sandwiches, and the Danforth if you love Greek food (and are lookin' for a good music shop, 'cause there's one just up from the Viaduct).

If you like challah bread, Yitz's Deli on Eglinton is the place to go - they aren't kosher anymore, I don't think, but the bread's still really good. And if you want to check out a piece of crazy Toronto history, Honest Ed's is the place to go.

Bookworm? Check out The World's Biggest Bookstore just up from Yonge St, but stop in to the used place right next door first - they have better prices.

Hungry for steak? Barbarian's has the best in the city, but it's pricey.

@Fifth: Fuck, I think I was just at that hostel last week. Pretty decent place, huh? There should be an interesting exhibit on Tim Burton a little east of that place on King Street, if you're inclined to check it out.

Chinatown Traveler's Home? Yeah, it's really nice here.

One of the things that surprised me was the amount of restaurants on Spadina. It's seriously, seriously crowded with them: how do they all compete with each other?

This is the largest city in the country; we do a lot of eating. Especially in the summer - patio season is a holy time for my city. :3

It's been three days of awesome here in Toronto. Our group has made it a point not to eat the same kind of food twice for a meal. We've had Chinese food (Sichuan? House), Korean food (Korea House), Burrito Banditos, jerk chicken, Indian food (can't remember the name), Pizza Pizza (meh, it's fast food pizza), and too many boba teas to count.

Can you recommend a place for poutine, though?

I can, but it's in Québec. XD Sorry, man. Plenty of fast food places offer cheese curds and gravy as optional extras on fries, though; I think Harvey's does, at least.

I just came back from Toronto. The parts of the city I saw were awesome, and I'd love to come back again in the future.

If you're planning to go there and are looking for a cheap place to stay, Chinatown Traveler's Home is a great place for the price.

O Canada.

Sadly, I'm not actually in Canada right now. :| I did get to visit for the first time last month, since moving to the US almost 2 years ago. It was nice to see my family again, I even kind of missed them since it'd been so long.

Either way, I'm originally from Kitchener, Ontario.

Ahh, the election.

You know, it's annoying having a political view that's completely opposite of all your friends, so when they're discussing politics and what-not, they're all in agreement that though they don't trust any party, they'll likely vote for X, with X being a party you're completely opposed to. And yet you don't want to speak up, fearing being barraged by factoids and points until you end up feeling like a twit for daring to hold such an opinion.

Better than a two-party system, still.

Yay and Woo. I'm from Toronto, possibly the most-hated city in Canada. Hai you guize.

Not much to say about myself, but I do admit that I am kind of a jerkass (for lack of a better word). Just a little.
