Mysterious Organization (with or without an X) seems much too broad to me. It makes me think of "ambiguously CIA" or MIBs or the "we're from the government, we're here to help" goon squad that shows up and disappears all the evidence.

How about just dropping the "generic" part from the current name?

I apologize for being late to this thread, but there is now a single proposition rename crowner for this trope here.

How about Mysterious Evil Organization? Or Mysterious Evil Squad. That way it sounds less 'CIA here to help' and more like something in assoication with the Omniscient Council of Vagueness

This trope also has a lot of Zero Content Examples. I think it won't hurt to change the name, but that's not all it needs. It's a trope that should cover a lot of villain groups that don't belong on Quirky Miniboss Squad. It could do with more than a cursory mention on that page, and a more clear distinction.

It could. There is more than just the name wrong here, I agree.

Calling crowner in favor of a rename.

I moved the article and wicks, added notes to both stickied thread, Renamed Tropes and the discussion page. Hollering for a lock.
