Statler And Waldorf stingers: Part 2

The current #2 option has a much more positive ratio than the current #1.

Also, the current #2 just tied with the #1. In which case I can see doing both, since the first post I made on that had it 19-18, but tied works.

@INUH: Wait, I thought it was the total sum rather than the ratio that mattered? The total # of votes for the first one is much higher than the second as well.

EDIT: and someone has just changed their up-vote for leave on the main page to a down-vote. Well, that simplifies things.

Is it alright if I remove them/move theme to the Statler And Waldorf if I replace them with another stinger?

[facepalm] That seems an awful lot like "the vote didn't go my way, but is it okay if I act like it did?"

I asked a question on the previous page, I didn't get an answer so I asked it again exept perhaps with a poor choice of words

What you said on the previous page is that, in your opinion, it's "almost impossible" to make the stingers funny if they have to be in Statler And Waldorf format. You, personally, don't have to make these edits, so I don't see how that's a problem.

I say that it's impossible for a "Knock Knock" Joke to be funny.

We both know that's not true.

It's a format, nothing more. Trying to make a broad statement about a format is exactly what this entire wiki is about bad when it comes to joke archetypes. They can be made funny, but the fact that you can't make them funny shouldn't lead to them being removed.

Perhaps you can tag them with some phrase that can be googled so that others can improve them, rather than have the stinger removed entirely where no-one can/will fix it?

I think we have an aim, at his point. Redraft and put on the page. Now for a plan. I think all the stingers have been moved to the S&W page in a list of where they came from. It might make sense to do the redrafting where they sit now, then distribute them back to the target pages.

Alright then. Looks like we got this just about settled (and about time too).

On a side note, what should we do about the couple that aren't in English? I'd prefer them all to be in English, unless they end up on one of the translated pages.

^With a good enough reason for S&W The Stinger to be in a foreign language in the first place, of course, I'd say the one for The Netherlands sets the best standard.

No. That was never even suggested. Where are you pulling all these off-the-wall ideas from?

because if you read the last few posts, back to where I first asked my question and on, that was exactly the impression it gave me. I could be mistaken, in which case you are welcome to try to explain to me my mistake

Just because non-SW stingers can't automatically supersede SW ones doesn't mean SW ones automatically supersede non-SW ones.

Then bring it up on a discussion page. Going around replacing S+W because you have a 'better idea' is pretty much the same as deleting them (which is not a winning option).

Ok, I brought it up on the discussion page here and so far it seems consensus on this particular page is against the S&W stinger.

In a closely related issue, is it ok to star a Trope Repair Shop Discussion for a single stinger?

You'd be better off just brining it up on the article's discussion page, I'd think.

If the stinger has a comma or a semicolon in it, you may want to start two separate TRS topics for each part, to be on the safe side.

Well, to be less snarky: The focus of TRS threads is dealing with major aspects of pages- example cleanup, clearer descriptions, and so on. It's not the place to be arguing decorations like stingers. If this has to do with replacing a S&W stinger, we already have a huge discussion right here. If it doesn't, it's the sort of thing you're just supposed to Be Bold about.

While before I would have agreed with Triple Elation (go ahead and fix it, it's not major), the huge amount of controversy over this debate has made me think that it's best if you just take into the discussion page, as other have said.

At least take it to the discussion page. If you want to be safe from any accusation of private crusade (since you've made it very clear that you think they should all be removed), make a TRS thread for it. But only if you have a different stinger to suggest.

And here I was worried that I was too subtle in expressing my dislike for the meme
