I just hope Jigglypuff doesn't put her to sleep.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Quick question: How many of you here are not using the spoiler thread (and/or otherwise avoiding spoilers)?
The only reason that would be relevant is if you wanted to discuss something in the spoiler thread here, and that implies it should remain in the spoiler thread.
I'm not looking at the spoiler thread in any capacity, though I still see plenty of "THE ULTIMATE SMASH LEAK!?" type of video thumbnails on youtube.
Actually, no, I wanted to get a sense of how many people here consider leaks to be spoilers. My follow-up would have been to look for opinions about Sakurai's team revealing all of the characters before launch and why those aren't considered spoilers.

I'm a spoiler hound woof woof
New theme music also a boxLeaks are spoilers. They’re information you’re not supposed to have yet. Official media is not spoilers, because it’s beijg officially revealed before the game comes out.
Basically.
If there's a credible and interesting leak then it should go in the Spoiler thread.
I mean, trailers are officially released material too, but (at least when it comes to movies) people always liken those to spoilers. Plus, 90% of the leaks we get aren't real, and the ones that are real are indiscernible until the official material comes out anyways.
I'm just trying to better understand that viewpoint. Why is an official full roster reveal not considered a spoiler when the end result is that you're not surprised by the roster by the time you actually play the game?
Basically this. If it's in an official trailer or other intentional prerelease material, it's either not a spoiler, or one that's minor enough that the creators didn't think it was important enough to hide.
I guess it's because at this point, the character's announcement is the surprise, although I can see why not everyone sees it that way. Still, there are usually a few non-character things that aren't mentioned in prerelease material. No one knew about Master Core before Smash 4 came out, for example.

Honestly I want to see Tabuu return just so we could see a Master Core vs Tabuu fight.
Not gonna lie, that'd be cool.
Going off the last topic...bit of a rant here, but I don't understand people talking about trailers like they're spoilers, especially when it comes to games. Yes, I know we have a Trailers Always Spoil page, but with movies, a lot of that stuff is the sort of thing people notice after they watch it. It's also different with games because their stories are spread out over a longer period of time than movies and can be told in more ways than just cutscenes, but people still like to choose an arbitrary point and decide "welp, they've started spoiling things," only to have the game come out and have the "spoilers" be some early-game plot point, or something that's so out of context that there's no way to tell what it's spoiling in the first place until you get there. Unless the game is a remake or rerelease, you almost never get major twists dropped in trailers. I don't think I've ever seen it happen. Besides, sometimes the stuff they show in trailers has dialogue from one scene put over visuals from another, or other misleading stuff like that. You never really know for sure until the thing is out.
Even when the thing is out...alright, so there was this one time I made a guess about something story-related partway through a game and mentioned it in the thread. It was clearly stated as a guess, and nothing about it was a spoiler in itself, nor was the existence of the plot point I was guessing about - I'd found an interesting thing on the map in a place that was accessible early on, and I wondered if it had to do with something the characters had been looking for since the beginning of the game. Someone came into the thread, freaked out, got mad at me for not tagging my comment, and PMed me saying they didn't see the point in playing any further now that they knew where the thing was. My first reaction was to worry that I was right, which did admittedly made things worse. Not only was my guess completely wrong, I'd also forgotten an important detail that would've made that obvious - they just assumed they'd been spoiled because I might have been right. I really hope they didn't quit the game over it.
That said, leaks (real ones, anyway) do complicate things, and so do assholes who toss around genuine spoilers on day 1 just to piss off everyone else. Same goes for recommended social media posts that don't take any of this stuff into account. Those last two things in particular are especially obnoxious, because they can hit you even if you're extra careful about avoiding discussions.

I've been revisiting Melee and Brawl for the past week, mostly unlocking all the characters, getting trophies, and going through the single player modes.
Of the two, Brawl is the one I have fonder memories of and still prefer today. I like Melee enough and I can see how you can make the argument of it being the superior game, but I'll always go with Brawl for its character roster (no two characters play exactly alike, with the closest being Toon Link), music (a lot of my favorite Smash tracks and remixes come from this game), and the Subspace Emissary (hate on it all you want, I still love it in a dumb-fun "relies entirely on Rule of Cool" kind of way, and I hope Ultimate's censored green mode is another kind of mode like that).
I am curious to see how some of the cut characters like Pichu and Wolf will play in Ultimate compared to the previous games. Especially Roy, who in Melee is basically just Marth with fire effects, a different taunt, and a Dolphin Slash that hits multiple times, and was then brought back in Smash 4 with some more differences (albeit not to same extent as Falco and Ganondorf in Brawl).
This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute.A couple of Nintendo reps flew out the E3 demo to terminal cancer patient Chris Taylor's home so that he could play it, given it's very possible he won't make it to its release date.
That’s a really nice gesture. I feel like that’s less meaningful than when people get help to see movies before they pass because...it’s a demo. And you can’t appreciate the full depth of a game in a two to three hour slice of gameplay.
So it’s nice but...it makes me feel even sadder.
Yeah, I know the guy probably has bigger things on his mind, but...he's still going out never knowing the full roster. Let alone DLC. Let alone getting to play it with anyone else.
They should have played "Who let the dogs out?" for Isabelle's reveal
New theme music also a boxWhile hilarious, that would have been extremely tonally inappropriate for the trailer's relaxed and happy vibe. It absolutely should not have been playing during the actual trailer. That said, someone should definitely synch the trailer up with that song.
The Smash Bros. roster has character starting with every letter of the alphabet except E, H, Q, U, and X.
Who would you add to fix this?
A great Mascot Mook.Cool but unworkable idea: The final DLC character's Classic Mode path should be made entirely of DLC (except for the inevitable final battle against Master Hand). All stages DLC, all characters DLC, even all music if that's a thing.
Naturally it can't happen because doing so would mandate buying every single piece of DLC, which some people won't do, but I'd dig it.
Ukrainian Red CrossOnly one I can think for X is Xion

I'm still unsure if I'd main Isabelle.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!
