Ensemble Dark Horse: Of all the animals being featured on the show, Oreo is often regarded as the most memorable. Helps that he was the only kitten of his litter in the episode focusing on him.
Growing the Beard: "Puppies and Ducklings" was most likely this as it was the first episode focused on something other than kittens or puppiesnote The baby sloths special doesn't count because of a different format and narrator, even when the focus is mostly on the usual.
Hilarious in Hindsight: The narrator for this series is the same one for Monster Bug Wars, a decidedly NOT family-friendly or cute series about animal interaction.
Squick: Even in a series focused on cuteness, this can still pop up. Most notable in the earlier seasons though, since they would actually show scenes from the kittens/puppies' births note As much as they can show without causing a ratings stir, and almost never showing them coming out of the mother in the process... at least, not at angles where you can actually see things and the moments after, when the kittens/puppies still have their umbilical cords attached. Thankfully, it was a procedure that was quickly dropped a few episodes afterwards, with later episodes usually showing the mother moments before the birth of her children, then immediately skipping to when the puppies/kittens have been cleaned up.
Sweet Dreams Fuel: No mood, no matter how foul, can withstand the power of cute. This series is often recommended to watch if you're having an exceptionally bad day/week/whatever, or are feeling depressed for whatever reason.
Tiny Dancer the Abyssinian kitten is the runt of her litter and is neglected by her mother Avalon, at first. (She gets better, though.)
Oreo is a Heartwarming Orphan who just wants a mom. While he does find a bit of a Parental Substitute in German Shepherd Sinta, it takes a while before he finally gets accepted by a mother cat after her kittens become friends with him.
